GEN B.B. Bell (USA, Ret.) Bio

General Burwell B. Bell is a retired United States Army four star general from Oak Ridge, Tennessee, where his father worked for the Manhattan Project. Gen. Bell received his Army commission as a Distinguished Military Graduate through the University of Chattanooga’s Army ROTC program in 1969. He is a former Commander of all U.S. and Allied Forces in Korea, as well as the United States Army in Europe, and NATO’s Land Component Headquarters in Heidelberg, Germany. As an Armor and Cavalry Officer, General Bell was deployed overseas for 15 of his 39 years of active service in both peace and war. Among his campaigns, he is a veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom, where he served as Gen. Norman Schwarzkopf’s Executive Officer. He holds a master’s degree from the University of Southern California and has been awarded three honorary doctorate degrees. He serves as Chairman of the Advisory Board for the National Medal of Honor Heritage Center.
