Ron Helle is a highly decorated career Marine officer who worked his way through the ranks, retiring as a Major after 22 years of service. If he looks familiar, that is because he is the twin brother of another Marine veteran grassroots writer, Roger Helle. Serving three years in Vietnam, Ron was awarded the Navy Cross and three Purple Hearts. Since his retirement from the Marine Corps, he has had a diverse career including private and contract security in Iraq. He has pastored two church startups, taught Scripture, and served in various ministry capacities, particularly to active-duty military personnel and veterans. His devotions emerge from his diverse life experiences. He currently resides in Houston, Texas, with his wife of more than 50 years, Lynne. Read Mark Alexander's profile of Ron, "The Heroic Helle Brothers."
Warp and Woof
We need to put on the garment that is provided to those who receive salvation through Jesus Christ.
250 Years — Reflections
It is fitting that as we celebrate the 250th anniversary of the Marine Corps, our leaders once again hold our nation’s “Force in Readiness” in the high regard it is due.
Contrary Winds
Spiritually speaking, Jesus has us sailing into the storm. The winds are contrary, but our Captain controls the wind and the waves.
Taste Test
Sometimes we are reluctant to step into what we think may be a great big mess in life, but nibbling around the edges won’t give you lasting satisfaction.
Victorious
Victorious living comes by our faith and trust in our Lord Jesus Christ. Where the rubber meets the road is making victory the practical experience in our everyday lives.
All Things
God has infused in our souls the desire and power to serve Him. That tells me I have “all things that pertain to life and godliness.”
The Seed Is Planted
The expectation of planted seed is that there will be a harvest to follow.
Unanswered Prayer
All too often, we want the “desires of our heart,” but we are not delighting ourselves in the Lord — and we come up empty every time.
Our Daily Bread
God has created a world where each and every creature has provision made for their needs. If I truly love God, it is my desire to meet with Him every morning.
Captain Obvious
There are occasions when Christians need to point out the “obvious” to friends and acquaintances regarding our culture’s inability to find lasting happiness.
