National Day of Prayer

The new Religious Liberty Commission will develop policies and recommendations to defend religious liberty.

Yesterday was the 74th annual National Day of Prayer.

I just got back from the National Day of Prayer event at the White House. I’ve been to several of these events over the years, and this was one of the best.

I expected to remain in the audience as the event unfolded. I was surprised and honored when President Trump called me personally up to the stage to join him and others as he prepared to sign an executive order creating a new Religious Liberty Commission.

The Commission will develop policies and recommendations to defend religious liberty, with a particular focus on “parental rights in religious education, school choice, conscience protections, attacks on houses of worship, free speech for religious entities, and institutional autonomy.”

America has a deep religious heritage. There have been many calls to prayer in our history. The National Day of Prayer was first established by Congress in 1952. In 1988, President Ronald Reagan signed legislation designating the first Thursday of May as a day of national prayer.

At a prayer breakfast in 1984, Reagan famously warned, “If we ever forget that we’re one nation under God, then we will be a nation gone under.”

Reagan is right, and President Trump agrees! We won’t be a great nation unless we are Godly again.

Done Deal

The U.S.-Ukraine mineral deal was supposed to be signed in Europe in mid-February. It was delayed because President Zelensky insisted he sign it at the White House. At his insistence, the deal was delayed until the end of February so there could be a big White House event. Well, it certainly was that!

Zelensky’s antics in the Oval Office on February 28th torpedoed the deal. Whether he realized it or not at the time, he hurt the cause of his nation. Over the past two months, he’s had time to think about it and reconsider his position.

Presidents Trump and Zelensky met at the Vatican last week when they were in Rome for Pope Francis’s funeral. President Trump explained to Zelensky yet again why a deal with the United States was in his best interests.

Now, it’s done. Late Wednesday afternoon, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent announced the deal, saying:

“This agreement signals clearly to Russia that the Trump Administration is committed to a peace process centered on a free, sovereign, and prosperous Ukraine… President Trump envisioned this partnership between the American people and the Ukrainian people to show both sides’ commitment to lasting peace and prosperity in Ukraine.”

Here’s what you need to know: The deal is a reflection of the president’s geopolitical strategy. He’s preparing for a possible, some say likely, military showdown with communist China.

Everything you see playing out is about that threat.

Keep that in mind the next time you hear the nonstop leftist fearmongering about what will happen when the $400 billion of goods communist China dumps into America every year doesn’t come this year.

Keep that in mind the next time leftist commentators blast Trump’s foreign policy. The Panama Canal and Greenland are not distractions.

President Trump is trying to do everything he can to ensure there won’t be a war with communist China, but if there is one, he intends that we win it.

Musk Moves On

Wednesday’s cabinet-wide press conference was not a farewell to Elon Musk, but it was a sign of coming changes.

The DOGE process will continue. Most of the people involved are staying on. And Musk will still be involved. But Tesla has suffered tremendous brand damage, and investors want Musk to refocus on his businesses.

The left’s narrative that Elon Musk has gutted the federal government is simply absurd. It also shows why it is so difficult to stop this freight train of debt we are on that is headed to a colossal crash.

Musk said that DOGE has cut $160 billion in spending so far. That may sound like a huge amount of money. But under Joe Biden, spending levels were recklessly raised to the point that every three to four months we are spending $1 trillion more than the revenues we are taking in.

One trillion is 1,000 billion. And, so far, the DOGE team has identified $160 billion in potential savings.

You are probably familiar with the national debt clock. It shows the deficit spending happening at a rate that is impossible to comprehend. Congressional Democrats came up with something a bit different.

They created a “DOGE Tracker” and claim the president is withholding $430 billion in federal funds. That’s money Joe Biden committed last year that Trump officials have put on hold in order to vet the programs.

Democrats are now saying that Trump and Musk are withholding $430 billion that was supposed to go to you, the American people.

Their logic doesn’t hold up.

Donald Trump is preventing the American people from going another $430 billion in debt. He’s not withholding something from us; he’s trying to save us from the day of debt reckoning.

We are paying $1 trillion a year in interest payments on the debt – more than what we spend on our national defense. And every day when the sun rises, the federal government must come up with another $3 billion just to pay the interest on what we have already borrowed.

By the way, earlier this week, Musk’s SpaceX company carried out two launches on the same day, putting 50 Starlink satellites into orbit. He is responsible for 90% of all payload launches in the entire world. These all increase our communication abilities and bring more opportunity to more people, as well as increasing our national defense abilities.

Speaking Of Musk & Tesla…

More than 40% of Tesla owners report that their cars have been vandalized. That’s a fairly bloodless word for it. Many Teslas have been burned, and Tesla dealerships have been firebombed.

Just so our blood pressure can go up some more, let’s mix the Left’s total disdain for private property and a predilection for violence with the transgender movement.

Owen McIntyre, a student at the University of Massachusetts, was arrested on April 16th and charged with firebombing a Tesla dealership in Kansas City, Missouri. The student was being held in jail pending trial.

Another civilization wrecker masquerading as a judge released McIntyre because continued detention would interfere with the firebomber’s so-called “gender affirming care.”

I wish I could say, “April Fools,” but this actually just happened in Massachusetts.

Maine Madness

JoAnna St. Germain, a high school history teacher in Maine, posted a direct appeal on Facebook to the Secret Service. She urged them to “step up” and use the unique position they are in to help the country “avoid a civil war.” How would they do that exactly? Here is her appeal:

Take out every single person who supports Trump’s illegal, immoral, unconstitutional acts. Look at the sycophants and give them what they’re asking for.”

She followed that up with this post:

I’m not backtracking a single thing. I believe Trump and every sycophant he has surrounded himself with … needs to die.”

Think about the world she lives in. She thought that calling for mass murder and the assassination of the president on a public platform was totally fine!

And there are hundreds of thousands of people just as unhinged as she is.

This is the hatred and violence Democrats are stoking with their obscene rhetoric. But the Left wants us to believe that Donald Trump is the “threat to democracy.”

Happy Birthday, Israel!

Israelis have a unique way of commemorating Memorial Day and Independence Day – they are observed back-to-back. It would be like Memorial Day in America being July 3rd with Independence Day on July 4th. Yesterday, Israelis celebrated Yom Ha'Atzmaut, or Independence Day.

In recognizing the modern state of Israel in 1948, President Harry Truman said, “I had faith in Israel before it was established, I have faith in it now.”

In 1948, Israel was promptly attacked by virtually all of its Arab neighbors. Israel prevailed, only to be attacked again and again and again. Even now, 77 years later, Israel is still fighting for its right to exist as a Jewish state.

But in the midst of this hatred, Israel has thrived. It has done so because of God’s blessing and because of the determination of the Jewish people.
