The latest shooting in Minneapolis has sparked a media and Democrat frenzy of demagoguery. There were multiple developments as the day went on Monday. Let’s break them down.
 
President Trump initiated calls to both Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz and Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey. Everyone involved said they were useful and productive calls.
 
The president told both men that the number of federal law enforcement officers in Minneapolis could be reduced, but to do that they need to do a few things, too. The president asked Walz and Frey to: 

• Turn over all criminal illegal aliens currently incarcerated to federal authorities, along with any illegal aliens with active warrants or known criminal histories. 

• Turn over all illegal aliens arrested by state and local police. 

• And require local police to assist federal law enforcement in apprehending illegal aliens wanted for crimes.

Border Patrol Commander at Large Gregory Bovino and some Border Patrol officers have left Minnesota. Bovino is reportedly returning to his previous post as Border Patrol sector chief in El Centro, California. The White House was quick to note that Bovino was not fired.
 
Border Czar Tom Homan was sent to Minneapolis to take charge of the immigration enforcement efforts. He will meet with both Walz and Frey.
 
Homan has been working in federal immigration enforcement since 1984. President Obama appointed Homan to be the associate director of enforcement and removal operations in 2013. Obama even gave Homan an award because they deported more people than Trump has been able to.
 
The reason for that disparity is simple: The Democrat Party has gone full communist/Marxist in the last ten years and is all in on open borders.
 
I commend President Trump for attempting to find a “middle ground” with these Democrats who are in open rebellion against the laws of the United States. But consider me skeptical that it will be possible.
 
 
 
Wrong Again, Walz
 
One reason why I am skeptical that Tim Walz will cooperate in any way with President Trump is because he is still smearing our federal immigration police. During a press conference Sunday, Walz said this:
 
“We have got children in Minnesota hiding in their houses, afraid to go outside. Many of us grew up reading that story of Anne Frank. Somebody’s going to write that children’s story about Minnesota.”
 
Once again, Walz is telling unhinged revolutionaries that federal immigration police are the “Gestapo.” Walz’s daughter repeated the disgusting smear.
 
All of that is a sick, twisted lie. Walz owes the brave men and women in federal law enforcement an apology for his vile remarks.
 
The U.S. Holocaust Museum issued a statement saying Walz’s comparison is “deeply offensive.” And this maniac was almost elected vice president of the United States!
 
I think the president understands, and I certainly believe, that Walz, Frey, and the entire leftist apparatus are not looking for common ground. They are in the middle of an insurrection against the United States, the goal of which is to cancel the result of the presidential election. That’s what their “resistance” is all about.
 
 
 
Who Are They Protecting?
 
Words are important. They define the debate, and the Left is very good at inventing euphemisms to disguise their radical agenda.
 
The individuals federal immigration police are looking for are not “immigrants.” They’re not “migrants.” They’re not “undocumented Americans.” They’re not even “illegal immigrants.” None of that fully captures what we’re dealing with.
 
These individuals are foreign nationals, citizens of other countries. Many committed crimes in those countries. These foreign nationals entered our country illegally and committed additional crimes here.
 
The communist block captains and their little militias controlling the streets of Minneapolis are defending and protecting foreign nationals who entered the United States illegally and committed crimes. That’s who they call their “neighbors.”
 
Where are the protests for the American victims of criminal illegal aliens like Laken Riley? Where is the media outrage over the death of Jocelyn Nungaray? Where is the compassion and empathy for Oscar Hernandez?
 
Today’s Democrat Party is willing to fall on its sword to protect criminal foreign nationals. And, no, they don’t want to deport criminal illegal aliens.
 
They oppose commonsense legislation to do just that. They prevent local police from cooperating with federal immigration officers. They actually free criminal illegal aliens—murderers, rapists, drug dealers, etc.—rather than turn them over to federal authorities. Now, they want to defund and abolish our federal immigration police. (See next item.)
 
 
 
Another Schumer Shutdown
 
Momentum is building in the Democrat Party to shut down the federal government over the issue of enforcing our immigration laws. The Homeland Security appropriations bill must pass by January 31st, or much of the Department of Homeland Security will be shut down.
 
Senate Democrats are refusing to support any funding bill that includes the Department of Homeland Security. But there is a flaw in their “plan.” The department’s immigration enforcement agencies got a big funding boost last year from the One Big Beautiful Bill and would be largely unaffected by a shutdown.
 
So, what Democrats are really doing is shutting down FEMA, the Transportation Security Administration, the Secret Service, and the Coast Guard all in an effort to do what exactly?
 
Now here’s the bigger point.
 
COVID was a godsend for the political Left in America. Leftist governors rushed to shut down their states’ economies because we were in the middle of a Trump economic boom. They wanted Trump’s economic success taken off the table in 2020, and they succeeded. In its own way, this shutdown mania is a mini version of that.
 
When Democrats shut the government down late last year, the economy took a hit. We didn’t see the impact in the economic reports until weeks later. The media said, “Well, the economy is not performing like Trump predicted.” The shutdown was totally ignored.
 
Now the economy is booming again. We’re headed to 5% economic growth. The idea that we will head into November with the economy firing on all cylinders is the Democrats’ worst nightmare. Their desire is to increase political turmoil and economic anxiety, just like they did in 2020, because that’s how they can sweep back into power in nine months.
 
 
 
Communism Up Close
 
Investigative journalist James O'Keefe spent a couple of days in Minneapolis this week. O'Keefe was surrounded and attacked by an unhinged mob. He described what he experienced as “communism up close.”
 
Aided by technology, the level of control exerted by the Marxist Left in Minneapolis is right out of the revolutionary handbook. They knew where he was every minute of the day and what hotel he was staying at. Death threats were sent to his driver’s cellphone, identifying the license plate number of the rental car O'Keefe and his team were in.
 
They know where every federal immigration police officer is every minute of the day. They have a database of the names and addresses of federal law enforcement officers.
 
They have a database of license plate numbers from the vehicles used by immigration police. They have groups of people roaming the streets and beating up others just on the suspicion of being a federal law enforcement officer.
 
If you’ve ever read anything about the French Revolution, all of this will sound familiar: “J'Accuse!” That revolution ended up with the mass murder of priests and the raping of nuns.

Here’s a dark thought: If we ultimately lose this battle for the American Republic, the “citizen militia” we’re seeing in Minneapolis is exactly what we will see in every major city.
 
Block by block, squads of leftists controlling each particular neighborhood, linked by technology and a friendly government, will keep track of other citizens and order them around.
 
 
 
The Marxist Church Invasion
 
Arrests have been made in the aftermath of the Marxist invasion of Cities Church in St. Paul, Minnesota. Affidavits have been filed with the courts. Statements from those affidavits make it clear that the protesters concentrated on the women and children in the church.
 
They told terrified and crying children, “Did you know your parents are Nazis? They’re going to burn in Hell!” If the worshippers attempted to walk away, the protesters pursued them and continued to scream in the faces of their children.
 
It is important to understand that this is not an isolated event. This happened during the debate over the definition of marriage. Churches and Mormon temples were attacked by militant homosexuals.
 
This is what Marxist revolutionaries have done throughout history. They attack the family, and they attack the church.
 
The protesters likely had another goal—to instigate a violent reaction from the church attendees, hoping to get headlines like this: “Peaceful protesters exercising their First Amendment rights were attacked by fascist Christian nationalists.” The willing media would have gladly spread that narrative.
 
Some may think it was wise for the men of the church to show such restraint. But I must confess that I am nonetheless somewhat disappointed. I do not believe that Christianity is a “suicide pact.” If I were in a church and some left-wing lunatic was screaming in the faces of my young children and my wife, I’d like to think I would throw a punch.
 
 
 
Never Again
 
Yesterday marked the 81st anniversary of the liberation of the Nazi concentration camps at Auschwitz, revealing some of the worst horrors of the Holocaust.
 
In 2005, as then-Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad was threatening a second Holocaust by vowing to “wipe Israel off the map,” the United Nations voted to recognize January 27th as International Holocaust Remembrance Day.
 
In a statement, President Trump declared:
 
“The systematic murder of Jewish people across Nazi-occupied Europe remains an indelible blight on mankind.  In remembrance of all who perished during the Holocaust and in honor of all those who survived and rebuilt their lives from the ashes, we renew our pledge that such evil will never again attain a stronghold in the West.”
