From Miracle on Ice…
Contrast the patriotism of the 1980 U.S. Men’s hockey team with some of the U.S. athletes participating at this year’s Winter Olympics in Italy.
My family and I watched a tremendous Netflix documentary this weekend called “Miracle: The Boys of ‘80.” It’s about the U.S. Men’s Olympic hockey team that defeated the Soviet Union and won the gold medal at the 1980 Winter Olympics. (Caution for language.)
The pride those young American men had for America was obvious every second of the documentary. When they were competing on the ice, they knew they were representing the greatest nation on earth. Their incredible victory over the Soviets inspired the entire nation at a time when we were locked into President Jimmy Carter’s malaise.
Of course, Ronald Reagan is not mentioned in the Netflix movie. But Carter’s recession, the Iran hostage crisis, gas lines, sky-high inflation, and growing unemployment were not glossed over.
Now in their 60s, these grown men tear up when remembering that historic game and when also talking about how critically important their parents were to each of them making the Olympic team.
To Ingrates On Ice
Now, contrast the patriotism of the 1980 U.S. Men’s hockey team with some of the U.S. athletes participating at this year’s Winter Olympics in Italy. Left-wing sports reporters, eager to smear Donald Trump, are asking U.S. Olympic athletes how they feel about representing the United States right now. Sadly, some U.S. athletes are eagerly taking the bait.
Freestyle skier Hunter Hess said:
“It brings up mixed emotions to represent the U.S. right now, I think. It’s a little hard. There’s obviously a lot going on that I’m not the biggest fan of… I think, for me, it’s more that I’m representing my friends and family back home…”
Here’s my advice for Hunter: If you’re so conflicted about representing the United States, then pack your bags and go to whatever country you’re more comfortable in!
Mike Eruzione, captain of the 1980 U.S. Men’s hockey team, blasted Hess on social media, writing, “Then don’t put on the USA uniform… Some athletes just don’t get it.”
“Pansexual” figure skater Amber Glenn told reporters that the “queer community” is having “a hard time” because of the Trump administration’s policies.
What is this “hard time” of which she speaks? No one in the LGBTQ “community” has lost any rights.
Sorry, Ms. Glenn, but we don’t want your “community” telling our kids what to think about love and sex. We don’t need your “community” mutilating little children in the name of trans ideology. We don’t need your “community” subjecting our children to drag queens in public libraries and public schools!
The disgusting display of ingratitude by some Olympic athletes is not a minor thing. This mindset is why leftist mobs destroyed statues honoring America’s founders and heroes. Where does that mindset come from? It came from radical teachers in our classrooms indoctrinating our children with decades of anti-American history.
In their own way, these Olympic ingrates are tearing down their own country. And why exactly? Because the president wants to make sure we know who is coming into our nation. That’s what is driving them to these disgusting displays of “biting the hand that feeds you.”
I hope no corporation is dumb enough to hire one of these athletes as a spokesman. I wish the U.S. Olympic leadership would say, “You’re not marching in the closing ceremony. We didn’t bring you here to be anti-American. There are enough people in Europe like that already.”
Faith In School
Last week, the Department of Education released new guidance to protect the religious freedom of students and teachers in elementary and secondary schools. Of course, Big Media blacked out the news, so we’re making sure you know!
In announcing the new rules, Secretary of Education Linda McMahon said:
“The Trump Administration is proud to stand with students, parents, and faculty who wish to exercise their First Amendment rights in schools across our great nation. Our Constitution safeguards the free exercise of religion as one of the guiding principles of our republic, and we will vigorously protect that right in America’s public schools.”
For decades, the radical secular left, led by the ACLU, People for the American Way, Americans United for the Separation of Church and State, along with Democrat-appointed secretaries of education, has been issuing letters warning schools that they are violating the Constitution and in danger of losing federal funding if they allow any religious expression in the schools.
Woke school boards have used those letters to sow fear and panic, and have succeeded in shutting down Christmas concerts and other expressions of faith in our schools. Not anymore! In fact, the guidance issued by the Department of Education specifically rejected the Left’s false “wall of separation between church and state” as “legally unsound.”
Citing recent Supreme Court decisions upholding prayer at school events and parental rights, as well as executive orders issued by President Trump protecting and promoting religious liberty, the Department of Education notified schools that they must:
- Certify that no policy prevents constitutionally protected prayer in school in order to receive federal funding.
- Allow students to pray as long as they are not interrupting class instruction.
- Not pressure a student to engage in speech or affirm a viewpoint that would violate the student’s sincere religious beliefs.
- Not discriminate against religious student groups or religious expression in school assignments.
This guidance from the federal government protecting the religious liberty of students and teachers in our public schools would not have happened if Kamala Harris had won the 2024 election. It happened because President Trump is listening to groups like American Values and acting on our advice.
Dueling Halftime Shows
There was a lot of blowback when the woke NFL announced Bad Bunny, a Trump-hating rapper from Puerto Rico, would be the main performer for the Super Bowl halftime show. He’s known for dressing in drag when he entertains, although he did not do that Sunday night.
What he did do leading up to the Super Bowl was attack federal immigration police at the Grammys. He went on Saturday Night Live and mocked Americans who do not speak Spanish. He made it clear that all his songs at the Super Bowl—the American Super Bowl—would be in Spanish.
I was not watching, but reports said he did not stand during the national anthem. During his halftime show, he pranced around with multiple different flags.
The Super Bowl is one of the few events that earns viewership from across all demographics of society. But NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell made the deliberate decision to spit in the face of 90% of the people who were watching the game.
As we told you, Turning Point USA presented an alternative All-American Halftime Show. Turning Point spokesman Andrew Kolvet said there were 25 million streams (with multiple people watching some streams) of the All-American Halftime Show Sunday night—just on YouTube alone! In fact, it was so successful, Turning Point USA announced they will do it again next year.
Super Bad
Apparently, one super bad call just wasn’t enough for the NFL’s left-wing leadership. Before Bad Bunny took the stage, the NFL created even more controversy by playing what’s known as the “Black National Anthem” before the big game.
The fact that there even is a “Black National Anthem” is more proof of how the Left is dividing America and stoking racial discord.
There is no “White National Anthem.” There is no “Hispanic National Anthem.” There is no “Asian National Anthem.” We have one national anthem to unite us all as Americans.
Speaking of racial discord, the Washington Post proved why Jeff Bezos, owner of the iconic media outlet, was right to fire hundreds of reporters and shut down the paper’s sports section. For some bizarre reason, the Post ran a story Sunday recognizing Castro-lover Colin Kaepernick as Super Bowl LX’s “most relevant figure.”
