Super Bowl Update
Rep. Andy Ogles is demanding to know what prior knowledge the NFL had of Bad Bunny’s music and who approved the specific songs he performed.
The controversy surrounding Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl performance isn’t going away. Because Bad Bunny performed his entire show in Spanish and not English, most viewers had no idea what he was really saying.
His lyrics were vile and sexually explicit. The song lyrics would have been banned by the FCC if they had been done in English. Members of Congress are demanding a formal investigation.
Rep. Andy Ogles (R-TN) correctly puts the blame on NFL and corporate media executives. He is demanding to know what prior knowledge they had of Bad Bunny’s music and who approved the specific songs he performed.
Given the unique nature of the Super Bowl broadcast, Ogles said it was “highly implausible” that NFL and media executives were simply clueless about the “pure smut” they were going to unleash to the public.
By the way, the entertainment news site TMZ asked its social media fans, “Who had the better Super Bowl halftime show—Bad Bunny or Kid Rock?” After 393,590 votes, there was a clear winner: Kid Rock with 64.5% to Bad Bunny’s 35.5%.
Here’s another interesting fact: One media analysis finds that viewership of this year’s Super Bowl was down 13% compared to last year, while viewership of the halftime performance fell by 39%.
Other reports say that many NFL team owners, as well as many players themselves, are fed up with the League’s wokeness.
Making America Proud
I have been critical of those U.S. athletes who have trashed America at the Winter Olympics in Italy. Today, I want to praise the U.S. athletes who are making us proud.
Ben Ogden won the silver medal in the cross-country skiing sprint race, making him the first American to win a medal in that event since 1976. Ogden proudly wrapped himself in the American flag to celebrate his win.
Women’s skier Breezy Johnson won the gold medal for the alpine downhill event. She broke down in tears when the Star-Spangled Banner was played at the medal ceremony.
It was Johnson’s first Olympic medal, Team USA’s first medal of the Winter Olympics, and Johnson was the first American to win the gold medal in the women’s downhill race since Lindsey Vonn in 2000.
Speaking of Lindsey Vonn, the champion skier came out of retirement to compete in this year’s Winter Olympics, in spite of suffering a ruptured left ACL just a week before the games.
Sadly, she suffered an even greater injury during her downhill racing attempt—a complex tibia fracture that will require multiple surgeries to repair. Vonn was heard screaming in pain for more than ten minutes before a helicopter arrived to transport her to a hospital.
The course in Cortina, Italy, had special meaning to Vonn. She won her first medal there, and she broke the Women’s World Cup record there as well. Vonn wrote on social media Monday, “I have no regrets. Standing in the starting gate [Sunday] was an incredible feeling that I will never forget.”
Kudos to all of Team USA’s Olympic athletes who are proud to wear the Stars and Stripes!
Unfortunately, Eileen Gu isn’t proud of America. After President Trump rightly called out some U.S. athletes for trashing America, Gu blasted Trump for violating the “spirit of the Olympic Games.”
Gu was born in San Francisco. She is an American citizen. But she is competing in the Olympics wearing the uniform of communist China. Ms. Gu should go to Beijing and try criticizing Chairman Xi Jinping. It won’t go well for her.
Confronting Communist China
President Trump came into office in 2017 vowing to get tough on communist China and not just for its unfair trade practices. For years, the communist regime has been spying on us, stealing commercial/industrial secrets and our national security secrets.
In 2018, the Trump Justice Department and FBI launched the China Initiative to crack down on Chinese spying, particularly at our leading research universities. Joe Biden shut down the China Initiative in 2022, claiming it was “racist.”
In a recent interview, FBI Director Kash Patel told Just The News that the Trump administration has relaunched the China Initiative.
As we previously reported, the FBI is investigating a second secret Chinese biolab discovered in Las Vegas and arrested more Chinese researchers at the University of Michigan late last year for attempting to smuggle biological material into the United States.
Director Patel said, “We’ve arrested over 40% more individuals from the CCP for espionage alone last year, a 40% increase in one year.”
In related news, communist China just sentenced Hong Kong media mogul and democracy activist Jimmy Lai to 20 years in jail. Lai is a devout Christian. He is 78 years old and in poor health.
Those “wonderful” Chinese communists, who many of our “elites” seem to have such admiration for, just sentenced an elderly Christian to die in jail for the “crime” of defending freedom and democracy.
I have no inside information, but I wouldn’t be surprised if President Trump somehow manages to get him released.
All Eyes On Texas
Unlike most years, political observers are watching the Senate race in Texas very closely. What would usually be considered a safe GOP seat may be unusually competitive. Both parties are facing bruising primary battles with anti-establishment candidates currently in the lead.
Attorney General Ken Paxton leads incumbent Senator John Cornyn by seven points—38% to 31%, with Rep. Wesley Hunt a distant third at 17% and 12% still undecided.
Among Democrats, Rep. Jasmine Crockett leads state Rep. James Talarico by eight points—47% to 39%, with 12% undecided.
Crockett is often “unhinged.” Her rhetoric is extreme and her behavior is embarrassing. But here’s what jumped out at me: 84% of Texas Democrats have a favorable view of “Crazy Crockett,” and only eight percent view her unfavorably. That says a lot about the Texas Democrat Party.
Conventional wisdom suggests extreme Crockett would be the worst candidate for Democrats to nominate. I’m not so sure. Midterm elections often come down to which side can best turn out its base, and Crockett seems to have the advantage with the left-wing base of the Democrat Party.
Laugh of the Day
There’s a new acronym in the political wars—AWFUL. It stands for Affluent White Female Urban Liberals. Ouch! Don’t let your daughters grow up to be AWFUL.
