All joking aside, Washington, D.C., is currently facing a major environmental disaster. Four weeks ago, a massive sewer line burst in the nation’s capital. Raw sewage, filled with unbelievable contaminants, bacteria, and diseases, has been pouring into the Potomac River around the clock.
 
It’s estimated that roughly 250 to 300 million gallons of sewage have entered the river already, making it one of the worst sewage spills in U.S. history.
 
This disaster was totally predictable. Washington and surrounding Democrat jurisdictions have failed to do necessary preventative work for decades. They were too busy buying votes with new big government programs.
 
Initially, DC Water downplayed the danger to local residents, saying E. coli levels were low. But DC Water officials recently admitted that their calculations were off just a bit. E. coli levels are actually 100 times worse. They estimate it will take four to six weeks to repair the broken sewer line.
 
Coincidentally, or perhaps not, the CEO of DC Water is David Gadis. Prior to joining DC Water, Gadis was a top executive at the water company contracted to fix the contaminated water in Flint, Michigan. That company was sued for allegedly hiding the high levels of lead in Flint’s water. Since coming to DC Water, Gadis has directed more than $500 million in “diversity and equity” contracts.
 
Even after the sewage spill occurred, liberal politicians in Washington, D.C., Virginia, Maryland, and in Congress didn’t seem very interested in the environmental degradation. The left-wing media largely ignored the unfolding disaster, as did left-wing environmental groups.
 
President Trump is disgusted with this incompetence and has ordered the EPA and FEMA to devote all available resources to stopping this disaster. Unfortunately, FEMA’s efforts may be limited because Senate Democrats shut it down. They are holding funding for FEMA and other Department of Homeland Security agencies hostage in their fight to defund federal immigration police.
 
And what is the response to Trump’s action? Every leading Democrat is blaming Trump for the broken sewer line. Sadly, there’s no vaccine for stupidity.
 
 
 
What Time Is It?
 
Several states are racing to redraw their congressional maps ahead of the 2026 midterm elections. But a majority of Republican state senators in Indiana refused to do so, claiming they were taking a principled stand for the rules and procedures and state sovereignty.
 
I’d like to revisit this “principled” view. It’s a principle that no Democrat is following, and Indiana Republicans preened about it with an air of smug moral superiority, “We’re not like those other Republicans.” This kind of “graceful surrendering” has been going on for years.
 
Don’t forget that the last census undercounted people in Republican states and overcounted people in Democrat states. That resulted in Republican states losing at least three additional House seats and Democrat states keeping three House seats they should have lost.
 
That’s why the president urged Texas legislators to do what they could to correct the imbalance.
 
But Gavin Newsom saw a chance to eliminate at least half of the state’s Republican House members. Maryland is trying to wipe out the state’s only Republican representative in Congress. And then there’s Virginia.
 
Once a purple state, Democrats campaigned last year as moderates. But as soon as they won, they pushed abortion on demand, same-sex marriage, tax hikes, and attacks on the Second Amendment.
 
The cherry on top of their extreme agenda is a radical redistricting plan that will move the state’s congressional delegation from six Democrats and five Republicans to ten Democrats and one Republican.
 
But the next time Democrats get power in Indiana, the “principled” Republicans can lay their heads on their pillows at night knowing they’re “not like other Republicans.”
 
I have a different take—they are cowards. They are definitely not the people you would want in a foxhole with you. They would rather lose the battle in a “principled” way than do what it takes to win and save our country.
 
I feel the same way about the Senate filibuster. I realize reasonable people can disagree. But some Republicans keep falling for the argument, “Oh, we can’t change the filibuster to pass a bill guaranteeing secure elections, or the Democrats will do the same thing to us.” They don’t get it.
 
Democrats will do it. They will do it. They already tried to do it. Harry Reid broke the filibuster rules to confirm left-wing judges. They want to do it to create a left-wing majority on the Supreme Court.
 
And when they change the rules, they will do it in a way that makes it virtually impossible for Republicans to ever win the Senate again. How? Just make Washington, D.C., and Puerto Rico states. That would add four new Democrat senators to their ranks.
 
In the months leading up to the 2024 election, I began every speech by asking the audience, “Do you know what time it is?” Not the specific time, but the time we are living in.
 
We are in one of those critical times in our nation’s history, like the Revolutionary War and Civil War. A great matter is before us. Will we remain one nation under God? Or will we go down the road of Marxist stagnation and oppression?
 
Any elected Republican who does not understand what time it is should resign their seat in disgrace.
 
 
 
The Left’s War On Women
 
With all the serious issues facing our country today, far-left members of Congress are waging war on women and normalcy. Ninety-six House Democrats are sponsoring the Transgender Bill of Rights, which was just introduced by radical Left Coast Congresswoman Pramila Jayapal.
 
Not only does this extreme bill legalize mutilating, gender-denying surgeries on children, but it also expands the definition of “public accommodations” to include the “full range of places and services that members of the general public utilize.”
 
Translation: If this bill passes, men claiming to be women will have full, legal access to any and every woman’s bathroom, locker room, and changing room they choose to walk into. And confused children will once again be lied to and preyed upon by greedy and unethical doctors.
 
Democrats claim to be champions of “women’s rights,” but they are literally erasing what it means to be a woman.
 
 
 
Charlie & The Christian Nationalists
 
Pamela Brown, CNN’s chief investigative correspondent, has been working on a really “hot” assignment for several months, uncovering a hidden threat to the Republic. Her hour-long documentary will be released this weekend, warning how Charlie Kirk’s funeral was a “rallying call” for Christian nationalists to rise up across the country.
 
So, let’s get this straight: Charlie Kirk, an advocate for free speech and debate, is assassinated by a radical, trans-obsessed leftist, and the conclusion at CNN is that Christian nationalists are plotting to take over the country.
 
As I have noted before, a Christian nationalist is someone who loves God and loves America. Our Founding Fathers and the vast majority of Americans until recent decades were Christian nationalists.
 
Charlie Kirk’s brutal murder wasn’t a trigger for some imagined “religious Right” conspiracy. It did, however, expose the deep hatred on the Left for anything normal. And yes, that did upset many Christians. It made them realize just how much they needed to get involved to defend religious liberty and freedom from the violent, hate-filled, revolutionary Left.
 
 
 
Ash Wednesday & Lent
 
Yesterday was Ash Wednesday, which marks the beginning of Lent. Lent is a 40-day period (excluding Sundays) of prayer, fasting, and repentance leading up to Easter. While Ash Wednesday and Lent are generally thought of as Catholic observances, Anglicans and some other Protestant denominations observe them, too. (But not the Washington Post, which chose to recognize Ramadan on yesterday’s front page.)
 
As you know, ashes are placed on believers’ foreheads in the shape of a cross. Participants are reminded, “Remember that you are dust, and to dust you shall return.” It is a reminder of our earthly mortality and the need to live with a focus on the eternal life to come.
 
I grew up attending a Southern Baptist church that did not observe Lent. But many Catholics in my hometown did observe Lent.
 
My thought is that whether we are Catholics or Protestants, it is a good thing to use the next 40 days to pray, repent, and sacrifice as we prepare our hearts for the crucifixion and resurrection of the Perfect Lamb of God. And to thank God for His promise of eternal life with Him.
