I have always asserted that the reality of your enemy must become your own before it is too late. For the past 47 years, we have operated in some delusional reality when it comes to the Islamic theocracy in Iran. Just think, what if Jimmy Carter had the courage to have supported the Shah of Iran?

It is rather comical to hear politicians and pundits ruminate about what regime change looks like in Iran. I have a simple message, perhaps that should have been a consideration of the Carter administration. It wasn’t, and we ended up with a maniacal ideology hell-bent upon Islamic domination and terrorism. Needless to say, the Trump administration will not be supporting another rule of ayatollahs, mullahs, and crazed clerics, and neither should we. Where was all the rage of the Marxist leftists when Barack Obama sent pallets of cash in an unmarked plane in the middle of the night to Iran? Or how about Joe Biden lifting oil sanctions and offering to restore the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), the Iranian nuclear deal?

There is an argument about the War Powers Act and the Authorization for the Use of Military Force (AUMF). I do not recall leftists being upset with Obama and his incessant use of drones to bomb people, including killing an American citizen, as well as his outsourcing our military to Islamic jihadists in Libya to topple Muammar Gaddafi. And we know what that led to: the deaths of US Ambassador Chris Stephens, Sean Smith, Ty Woods and Glen Dougherty. No outcry there. As a matter of fact, what difference does it make? And Joe Biden was given wide latitude with AUMF powers, and we saw the debacle of the Afghanistan withdrawal. Biden’s imbecilic decision in Afghanistan directly contributed to the unnecessary deaths of 13 Marines, a Sailor, and a Soldier at Abbey Gate, Karzai International Airport. Nothing from the leftists.

Any person rambling on that Iran poses no existential threat to the United States is a delusional know-nothing. Iran has continuously posed a direct threat to America, in the Middle East and in our very own hemisphere. Going back to the days of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and Hugo Chavez, there were close relations between Iran and Venezuela. Thanks to Biden and his open borders policy, our Nation was exploited by hundreds of thousands of single military-age males, including Islamic jihadists, who crossed into our country illegally.

There is no compromise, appeasement, negotiation, or certainly not acquiescence to the number one state sponsor of Islamic terrorism. A deranged regime that wants an apocalyptic event to return some “Hidden Imam,” the Mahdi, in order to usher in global Islamic dominance and conquest. This is why Iran had a pursuit of a nuclear weapon; it was never about providing better energy to their own people. The Iranian ballistic missile program was the mechanism for Iran to hold everyone hostage until they could attain the means to bring about their endstate.

I served time in Iraq and Afghanistan and am very familiar with Iranian efforts to kill and maim our men and women deployed. Our forward-deployed bases in the region are under constant threat from Iran. Iranian proxy terrorist organizations have inflicted death and casualties on our forces dating back to the October 23, 1983, Beirut Barracks bombing. After that attack, we did not retaliate; we withdrew…the wrong action to take in the face of Islamic terrorist actions. Years later, Iran produced and disseminated the deadly explosive force penetrator (EFP) improvised explosive devices (IEDs) in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Removing Iran as a threat is a strategic geopolitical imperative. Iran supports Russia with killer drones and China with illegal energy shipments to the tune of about 80%. We have taken Venezuela off the table and are now focusing on Iran. If we wish peace, you must not beg for it; there are times you must demand and enforce it.

Imagine if the world had found the courage to confront Adolf Hitler and Nazi Germany before they launched their war machine? What if we had contained Imperial Japan? Sometimes it takes a courageous leader who goes on offense, takes the initiative, seizes the moment in order to preclude the metastasizing of evil. As well, it is time that we finally sent a message to Islamists that we are not going to accept the chant “Death to America”.
