Radical Islamists Mean What They Say

And it’s our fault for pretending that up isn’t up, down isn’t down and hate isn’t hate.

In the Western world, there’s a weird naivety festering throughout our society, rooted in the notion that evil simply doesn’t exist. Thanks to multiculturalism, intersectionality, equity and any other combination of leftist buzzwords, we have the bizarre impression that the world is full of people just like us, who think just like us, who respect the same values as us.

For anyone who lives in reality, of course, it’s clear that’s not true.

It’s important to acknowledge that the West made massive progress in the realm of equality when it comes to immutable characteristics. There is no societally important difference, for example, between people based on their skin color. No person is better or worse because of their level of melanin, or their age or their sex. But it’s also important — even crucial — to acknowledge that this worthy and virtuous pursuit of equality has caused us to assume equality in one area that could bring our entire civilization to its knees: culture.

Cultures — in the form of ideas, values and beliefs — are clearly not equal. If such a statement causes red flags to wave in your mind thanks to our decades of civilizational indoctrination that teaches us that anything that opposes equality is bad, consider this question: If all cultures and beliefs are equal, does that make white supremacy good? For those who agree that white supremacy is bad — which it obviously is — then surely you must agree that white supremacy is not on an equal footing with a culture that opposes white supremacy, right?

In other words, cultures are not equal.

But rather than accepting this fact, we continue to fight it. We continue to look the other way, continue to bury our heads in the sand, continue to pretend that the barbarians at the gate are nothing more than misunderstood victims. Victims of the West, of course.

Perhaps the most laughable example of this was the recent attempt by former President Barack Obama’s old speechwriter Jon Favreau to spoon-feed terrorist supporter Hamas Piker the opportunity to demonstrate that any criticism he faces is based not on his horrific ideology, but on the imagination of hateful bigots.

“When you say Hamas is a thousand times better, do you actually mean that, or is that a rhetorical move, or like a solidarity signal…?” Favreau asked.

“I mean, it’s all of the above. I do mean it,” replied Piker.

And there you have it. Because here’s the problem: Our enemies — in this case, radical Islamists who seek the destruction of the West and the establishment of whatever fever dream-idea notion of left-wing Islam they pursue with every fiber of their being — are pretty open about what they want. When our enemies scream “death to America,” or “globalize the intifada” or “gas the Jews,” they really do mean “death to America,” “globalize the intifada” and “gas the Jews.”

And it’s our fault for pretending that up isn’t up, down isn’t down and hate isn’t hate.

When white supremacists march in the streets and chant “Jews will not replace us,” the American left don’t exactly rush to ask whether they really mean it. So why do they treat radical Islamists differently?

Why, indeed.
