A Salad of Progressive-Inspired Insanity

The purpose of an opinion column is to call ‘em as I see ‘em. To wit: There is no sane or logical reason to continue incoming flights from West Africa, or allow anyone with a passport identifying themselves as having come from any of the disease-stricken nations, entry into the United States. Everything that has occurred in Dallas and New York – and *will occur* as the flights continue – stem from this insane policy decision that elevates political correctness above the well-being of the nation.

That last bit provides a nice segue, as in progressive ideology and human nature are completely at odds, and nothing says it better than the twin pie-in-the-sky notions of “self reporting” and “self-quarantine.” In a real “shocker” out of Texas, nurse Sidia Rose said Patient Zero, aka Thomas Eric Duncan, lied about his exposure to Ebola. As for self-quarantine, nothing knocks that one out of the box faster than the reality that two trained health care professionals, NBC’s chief medical editor Dr. Nancy Snyderman of  "soup run" fame, and “hero” Dr. Craig Spencer, bowler, meatball eater and subway rider, deciding they were better than all that. Pick your adjective, be it arrogance, ignorance or denial, but ultimately if the “pros” are jerks, then what it to be expected from the amateurs?

Which brings us to the “hero” part. Spare me. Spencer landed at Kennedy Airport on Oct. 17 after treating Ebola patients in West Africa. He went through the so-called screening process he helped reveal to be a complete sham. But ultimately, he decided feeling “not-so-hot” was no cause for concern. “A” for treating Ebola patients, Dr. Spencer, but “F” for whatever aforementioned combination of arrogance, ignorance or denial perpetrated your potential Johnny Appleseed jaunt around New York. A and F averaged out equals C. “C students” are not heroes.

Neither is nurse Kaci Hickox, who was placed in quarantine following her return to the country after also treating Ebola patients in Africa. In typically American fashion, Hickox plans to file suit, contending her civil rights were being violated. Memo to Hickox and her lawyer, Norman Siegal of the ACLU: this is a case of competing rights, and anyone who thinks her right to be released from quarantine prior to the 21 day Ebola incubation period trumps the rights of  who knows how many Americans who might be unnecessarily endangered as a result, is delusional. Perhaps Siegal should invite her to stay sat his house with his family. File it under “put up or shut up,” Norm. Unfortunately, idiocy prevailed: Hickox was released “following intense White House pressure to relax a mandatory 21-day quarantine,” the Daily Mail reports.

How “relaxed” are you about a relaxed quarantine, my fellow Americans?

Open borders are a disaster-in-waiting. Americans should be beyond outraged that there is even the possibility Enterovirus D-68, responsible for killing at least 8 children and potentially crippling 15 more in Colorado and Boston, stems from the Obama administration’s decision to import 66,000 children from Central American nations. Nations where EV-D68 is far more prevalent than it has ever been in the United States. Equally reprehensible is a mainstream media defiantly uninterested in investigating the possible connection. Since when do dead and paralyzed children get swept under the rug to make way for what? Rene Zellweger before and after pics? And that’s the “good ” news. Our crack DHS Secretary Jeh Johnson doesn’t know whether terrorists have entered our nation via those porous borders. Prediction: the left and the Establishment GOP is so invested in comprehensive immigration reform, nothing short of a colossal disaster will end this open-border madness.

Speaking of colossal disasters, it’s beginning to look like the leftist narrative in Ferguson, MO – kept alive by the same media that virtually ignores dead and paralyzed kids – is beginning to fray. While I will reserve ultimate judgement until all the facts are in, a few realities remain distressingly clear. The website succinctly sums up the current situation. “The streets of Ferguson Missouri are now ruled by roaming bands of wild thugs operating with full impunity by the absence of police and law enforcement, actually policing and enforcing laws," writes "Sundance,” who also provides video evidence of the orchestrated mayhem.

Humor abounds as well, courtesy of an “exasperated” Eric Holder, ostensibly infuriated by leaks of investigation info. The bet here is I’m not the only American who believes those leaks came from the DOJ itself, desperately looking to defuse a powder keg largely of their own making in tandem with racial arsonist Al Sharpton, whose high-profile relationship with Holder and Obama ought to outrage every color-blind American on both sides of the color line. Ferguson has become the ultimate vehicle for Democrats desperate to get out the black American vote, highlighted by a Georgia campaign ad that warns them there may be “another Ferguson in their future” if they don’t vote. Sadly, there will always be another Ferguson in the future, wherever and whenever it accrues to the interests of a divide-and-conquer Democrat party. The same divide-and-conquer Democrat party set to sell out black Americans by forcing them to compete for jobs with the millions of illegals the president intends to unilaterally legalize. I’m guessing there aren’t any Democrats promoting that reality in any of their campaign ads.

And not just Democrats. There is no other issue that better exposes the corruption of our ruling class, in cahoots with the crony capitalists at the Chamber of Commerce and among the Silicon Valley high-fliers, than the absurd notion that America needs to import millions of under-educated, low-skill job seekers, along with their extended families. On the other end of the spectrum, the notion that America needs more STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) workers has also been completely debunked. Furthermore, the notion that Americans support so-called comprehensive immigration reform is an abject lie. Every survey cited to show that ostensible support omits the critical caveats that accompany those surveys, most notably the ideas of cracking down on businesses that hire illegals, and sealing the border first. Since 1986, when the first round of amnesty was perpetrated – along with a promise it would be the last round of amnesty – it has been historically demonstrated beyond any reasonable doubt that those caveats have been, and will be, ignored.

Furthermore, if this is such a slam-dunk, why is the president willing to engender arguably the worst Constitutional crisis in modern history by unilaterally and illegally granting amnesty to millions of illegal aliens? After the election, no less.

After the two terrorist attacks in Canada and the one in New York City perpetrated last week, it might be reasonable to once again ask a simple question: how many “lone wolves” constitute a pack? Monday it was reported that Obama and the Pentagon weren’t even remotely on the same page when the president announced his “strategy” for defeating in ISIS. Also once again: the longer ISIS remains a viable fighting force – one that apparently has procured advanced surface-to-air missile systems – they will remain an inspiration to those who find meaning in bloodthirsty nihilism. That would be Islamic bloodthirsty nihilism, and pardon me ever so much if I’m not willing to split hairs between the “radical” Muslims who heartily support it, and the so-called “moderate”  Muslims who either abide it, or stand on the sidelines waiting to cast their lot with the “stronger horse” that ultimately emerges. Muslims that are on America’s side, as in they elevate the Constitution over Sharia Law – which are fundamentally incompatible worldviews? Viewed as apostates by their fellow Muslims and every bit as endangered as any “infidel.” I’m also guessing I’m not the only American who believes there is a well-organized Fifth column of radicals operating with relative impunity right here in the United States.

Or is that with a hearty welcome? Beginning last Friday at Tufts University, a week-long conference held by Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP) was undertaken, aimed at training fellow students to “take 'direct action’ against pro-Israel and Jewish students on U.S. campuses,” the Free Beacon reports. Predictably, Tufts welcomes the "robust exchange of ideas,“ which "can be challenging and uncomfortable.” Yet those ideas don’t include coverage by a Brandeis student journalist denied access to the proceedings. The Beacon recounts several incidents of attacks and anti-Semitic behavior precipitated by the SJP on a number of American campuses, where they, along with the Muslim Student Association (MSA) spawned by the Muslim Brotherhood, are building a movement that supports terror and the eventual destruction of Israel.

If their efforts are successful, can you guess who their next target will be? If you can’t, you’re either one of them – or a progressive who sympathizes with their agenda.

That’s how this writer sees it, and theme here is constant: support progressive ideology at your own peril, and that of the entire nation.
