Prayers for Thousand Oaks
Please join Carol and me in praying for the victims and families of the shooting in Thousand Oaks, California. We are also praying for the heroic first responders, especially for the family of Sergeant Ron Helus, a 29-year veteran of the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department, who died at the hospital from his wounds.
The shooter has been identified as a Marine veteran, who, sadly, may have been struggling with PTSD. Reports indicate that some of those at the Borderline Bar and Grill were students of nearby Christian colleges, including Pepperdine, and others were survivors of last year’s massacre at the Route 91 country music festival in Las Vegas.
Left-Wing Lunacy
The Left is in complete meltdown mode, once again demonstrating the sheer lunacy of the progressive movement.
Radical groups are calling for demonstrations all over the country as a result of Jeff Sessions’ resignation. Protestors showed up at the White House Wednesday night. Even MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow is calling for protests. Who knew Rachel Maddow was a closet Jeff Sessions fan?
The Washington Post claims that Sessions was “forced out” by Trump. There’s no force involved. Every political appointee serves at the pleasure of the president. (By the way, there’s quite an impressive list of people under consideration for attorney general.)
I wish Jeff Sessions well. He is a good man, and one of the staunchest defenders of conservative values in Washington, DC. If Sessions decides to return to Alabama and reclaim his Senate seat from liberal Doug Jones, as he is reportedly considering, I would support him wholeheartedly.
Unfortunately, he got off to a really bad start as attorney general.
He failed to tell the president that he would recuse himself from the Russia collusion investigation if appointed attorney general. That is not a minor thing. It has dominated the president’s entire administration thus far and fueled the Left’s impeachment fantasies. (More on that below.)
But I find the Left’s hysterical reaction to be more than just a little hypocritical. Just over a year ago, left-wing politicians and their media allies were up in arms over his appointment.
They told us he was a racist and closet klansman. They suggested that he was a secret Russian plant. In short, they were outraged when Trump appointed Sessions and now they are outraged when Trump fires him.
But wait… There’s more!
Remember when Hillary Clinton said that civility could return to politics after Democrats won the election? Well, they won the House, so the Left is supposed to be civil again, right? Apparently, we didn’t understand what “winning” means.
A leftist mob showed up at the home of conservative commentator Tucker Carlson. The protestors chanted, “Racist scumbag, leave town!” and “Tucker Carlson, we will fight! We know where you sleep at night!” Fortunately, his four children were not home at the time.
The protestors attempted to break down his front door and actually cracked the door. Carlson’s wife hid in the pantry and called 911 thinking it was a home invasion. The protestors are lucky one of them didn’t get shot.
Left-wing activists also posted the home addresses of his brother, Buckley Carlson, Ann Coulter, Sean Hannity and The Daily Caller’s Neil Patel.
Again, I find it very interesting that these protests stopped right after the Kavanaugh backlash and they started up again right after the election was over.
The Left preaches about tolerance and accuses conservatives of being fascists. In reality, the Left has zero tolerance for free speech and diversity of opinion, and it uses fascist tactics to shut down debate.
Media Hypocrisy
Two members of the media had a bad day Wednesday: Tucker Carlson and Jim Acosta.
CNN’s Jim Acosta apparently thought that Wednesday’s White House press conference was a chance to debate the president. Watch it here. Now he’s paying the price for his latest outrageous antics after the White House suspended his press pass. Good for them!
But which one do you think Big Media has been obsessing about? (Hint: It’s not Carlson.)
Ready for Impeachment?
Sometimes good journalism is about being in the right place at the right time. And this week, The Federalist’s Molly Hemmingway was definitely in the right place at the right time.
During a recent train ride from New York to Washington, DC, Hemmingway happened to overhear Rep. Jerry Nadler, the incoming chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, discussing plans to go “all-in” on investigating President Trump and impeaching Justice Brett Kavanaugh.
By the way, Justice Kavanaugh’s investiture ceremony was held yesterday at the Supreme Court and House Democrats are already conspiring to remove him.
Are leftist Democrats really this stupid? Yes, they are.
As we have pointed out before, the Left never stops. It is still trying to smear Justice Clarence Thomas.
This would be a really interesting vote. Let’s see how many Democrats want to go on the record favoring the impeachment of Justice Kavanaugh. Soon-to-be-Chairman Nadler may want to have a talk with soon-to-be-former Senators Donnelly, Heitkamp, McCaskill, and Nelson.
Who’s for Hate?
I take a back seat to no one in my opposition to anti-Semitism. For my entire adult life, I have been a defender of the only Jewish nation in the world, Israel. And I have regularly denounced anti-Semitism here in the U.S. and anywhere else it shows its ugly face.
But I am puzzled today because I see a lot of other people who I always thought were opposed to anti-Semitism who suddenly seem to be a lot more tolerant of it.
For example, the Left celebrated Tuesday’s election of Keith Ellison as attorney general of Minnesota. But Ellison has repeatedly misled the public about his relationship with Nation of Islam leader and anti-Semite Louis Farrakhan.
Rashida Tlaib celebrated her election to Congress Tuesday night by dancing with the Palestinian flag. That is the flag of a nation that does not exist except in the minds of anti-Semites everywhere.
The Palestinian Authority literally teaches its children to hate Jews. It is second only to Iran in its raw anti-Semitism. I don’t hear any words of concern from the leadership of the Democrat Party.
And then there is Virginia candidate Leslie Cockburn. She was aggressively supported by J Street, a group that claims to be pro-Israel, even though she wrote a book filled with anti-Israeli invective.
Fortunately, Cockburn was defeated in large measure because of the efforts by the Republican Jewish Coalition. I congratulate the RJC and its executive director, Matt Brooks. J Street, however, doubled down and said it was proud of its support for Cockburn.
And there is also defeated Pennsylvania candidate Scott Wallace, whose foundation gave hundreds of thousands of dollars to radical anti-Israel groups. Wallace was also endorsed by J Street.
That raises a curious question: Just how anti-Israel can you be and still get the support of J Street?
