Tuesday night, statues of Christopher Columbus were beheaded in Boston and toppled in Richmond. What was Columbus’s sin? He discovered what became America.

We have been pointing out these attacks on our monuments and memorials and will continue to do so because they are revealing about the progressive left’s real agenda.

Progressives attacked the World War II Memorial, dedicated to the Greatest Generation who defeated fascism. They attacked the Lincoln Memorial, dedicated to the Great Emancipator who kept our country together. If the progressive movement could topple the Washington Monument, it would.

Meanwhile, the “Defund the Police” Democrats and their media apologists are willfully trying to keep you from knowing what is driving the radical left. This is not a fringe movement, my friends. It is growing. [See next item.]

And what is driving the left today is hatred for America, a burning desire to destroy America and Western civilization. Why are people rioting in Europe? It has nothing to do with the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis.

It is all about hatred for Western civilization. It is being stoked by communists and anarchists, as well as constant indoctrination in our schools. And it will get worse unless we can develop a strategy to counterattack and find the courage to fight back.

Antifa’s Insurrection

Antifa and its allies have seized six blocks of downtown Seattle. This is not a march or protest. They have literally seized territory. One group is the John Brown Gun Club. They are armed.

A police station in the area has been abandoned. Barricades have gone up, and antifa is calling on like-minded Seattle residents to join them in defending the “Capitol Hill Autonomous Zone.”

Governor Jay Inslee must call out the National Guard and end this insurrection. But I am not holding my breath.

Again, I urge the FBI and the Justice Department to crush this domestic terrorist group. It is a clear and present danger to the peace and security of our homeland.

Media Malfeasance

The Washington Post ran a story Monday with this vile headline:  "Protests Spread Over Police Shootings. Police Promised Reforms. Every Year, They Still Shoot And Kill Nearly 1,000 People.“

Thirty-five paragraphs later, these hacks finally got to the most relevant information: There has been a 60% decrease in the number of unarmed people shot and killed by police officers since 2015.

In a time of great racial strife, why did The Washington Post title this story in such a misleading manner? That certainly sounds like reforms we should all be proud of.

Why did it hide the fact that during the Trump years specifically, police shootings of unarmed people dropped 60%? Well, I think we all know the answer.

By the way, whites accounted for 45% of the unarmed individuals shot and killed by police last year, while blacks made up 27%.

And these figures are even less disturbing when you consider that "unarmed” does not mean that the individuals were innocent bystanders. In almost every case, the officer was physically attacked, sometimes with a vehicle.

Fighting Back

Police officers around America are under siege right now by the radical left and the “Defund the Police” Democrats. They are sick and tired of it, and they are fighting back against the lies and smears.

Tuesday, Mike O'Meara, president of the New York Police Benevolent Association, voiced the frustration of officers everywhere. He said:

I am not Derek Chauvin. [Pointing to officers behind him] They are not him. He killed someone. We didn’t… Everybody’s trying to shame us. Legislators. The press… Stop treating us like animals and thugs, and start treating us with some respect! That’s what we’re here today to say. We’ve been left out of the conversation. We’ve been vilified. It’s disgusting.

Hurting the Black Community

For anybody with eyes to see, it is obvious the black community suffered the most damage and destruction from the past week of rioting and looting. More and more Democrats in these Democrat-run cities are realizing that they have been set back years.

While we can breathe a collective sigh of relief that the rioting is over, for many minorities the tragedy is just beginning. Their business is gone. The employees who worked there are unemployed now. Some businesses will not return.

People who don’t have cars are suddenly finding out that their neighborhood drug stores were destroyed. Others are having to take multiple buses to get to a grocery store because the “social justice warriors” torched them.

It’s tempting to think that these left-wing radicals are really dumb attacking their own communities. But that’s the point. The left needs the despair to get worse.

It cannot have black lives improving. That would undermine the left’s whole cause of tearing down America.

Remember this, my friends: Just a few months ago the unemployment rate for blacks was at a historic low. The media and the Democrat Party (I know — redundant!) were terrified that Donald Trump could receive a significant share of the black vote.

Along came the pandemic and the riots and now perhaps as many as half of black Americans are unemployed. Well, four months ago that wasn’t the case at all. Under Trump’s leadership, the black community enjoyed a level of employment that Barack Obama could not dream of, let alone accomplish.

If Trump gets the chance, the employment situation will dramatically improve again. And who would want to go back to the anemic economy of the Obama/Biden malaise days?

Columnist Cal Thomas is urging President Trump to issue a Contract With Black America. After decades of Democrat failures in America’s cities, I think this is a great idea. Let’s start with school choice, more community policing, and enterprise zones to make our cities great again!

Confronting Iran

While we are understandably focused on the serious events taking place here at home, there are other serious developments taking place around the world.

For example, last Friday the International Atomic Energy Agency, the world’s nuclear watchdog, warned that Iran has been blocking access to its nuclear sites for over four months and has failed to answer vital questions about its nuclear program.

Moreover, the Iranian regime has stockpiled five times more uranium than it is allowed to produce under the 2015 nuclear deal. As a result, it has dramatically shortened the “breakout time” to produce a nuclear weapon.

In other words, Iran is cheating again. Of course, Iran has always been cheating and never had any intention of complying with Obama’s disastrous deal.

Meanwhile, China and Russia are fighting efforts by the Trump Administration to renew the UN arms embargo against the Islamic Republic of Iran. I guess Beijing and Moscow believe that the world’s leading state-sponsor of terrorism needs more weapons.
