Two major events occurred in January of 2021. Today is a good day to reflect on both of them. One event was the January 6th riot on Capitol Hill. It lasted about four hours when protests against the disputed election results got out of control. That riot was a bad thing. There is very little disagreement about that.

But during the previous 12 months, left-wing riots took place all across the country. The media and left-wing Democrats defended those rioters, and almost no one went to jail.

There was another critical day in January of 2021. It was January 20th, when Joe Biden and Kamala Harris were sworn into office. From that day on, America has been harmed because of their failed policies.

On January 19, 2021, we were energy independent. After January 20th, Joe Biden declared war on America’s energy industry, and we lost our energy independence. You’re paying the price every time you fill up your car.

On January 19, 2021, our borders were secure. On January 20th, Biden threw them wide open, and we are in the middle of an ongoing invasion of our country. Every day on our southern border, a lawless riot takes place.

On January 19, 2021, our foreign enemies were hiding in their bunkers fearful of Donald Trump. On January 20th, Biden’s weakness emboldened every enemy of our country. Our nation is in more danger now than it was on any day under Trump/Pence.

On January 19, 2021, most Americans thought better days were ahead. But since January 20th, Americans have sunk into a deep depression about the future.

Here’s what’s going on: Joe Biden, the media and the radical left are talking nonstop about a four hour mini-riot because they’re hoping to distract us from the vast damage their socialist policies are doing to our economy, your family and the very heart and soul of America. Don’t fall for it!

While Democrats prattle on about “insurrection” and threats to our “democracy,” they conveniently ignore the fascist violence of Antifa brutally attacking anyone who disagrees with them, not to mention one of the biggest attempted coups in our history.

Of course, I’m referring to efforts by Democrat political operatives — conspiring with foreign spies, our intelligence and law enforcement agencies, our feckless media and actual Russians — to bring down Donald Trump’s presidency with a fabricated hoax about Russian collusion in the 2016 election.

Sadly, no one of consequence has gone to jail for that attempted coup.

Biden’s Big Lie

Joe Biden spoke yesterday on Capitol Hill memorializing the events of January 6th. He spoke of a “violent mob,” a “brutal attack” and an “armed insurrection” that nearly overthrew the government of the United States that day. It was typical Biden demagoguery.

The people who stormed the Capitol had no guns. The FBI determined there was no planned insurrection. They had no power to actually prevent the certification of Electoral College votes. They only delayed it a few hours. If the Capitol riot was an actual “insurrection” as Biden claims, it was the worst insurrection in history.

But Biden then launched into his own big lie, claiming that Republicans in the states are trying to subvert democracy. He said:

“Right now, in state after state, new laws are being written — not to protect the vote, but to deny it; not only to suppress the vote, but to subvert it… [Republicans] have decided the only way for them to win is to suppress your vote and subvert our elections. It’s wrong. It’s undemocratic. And frankly, it’s un-American.”

As usual, Biden is lying, and he knows he is lying.

What Biden is describing is exactly what Chuck Schumer and Senate Democrats are trying to do right now! They are trying to nationalize all election laws in ways that make cheating easier, in ways that guarantee more power for the left. As I suggested in Tuesday’s report, Schumer and Pelosi are attempting an insurrection with their phony “voting rights” legislation.

In addition to trying to distract the country from their record of record failures (record crime, record inflation, record illegal immigration, record COVID cases), Democrats are exploiting the riot to secure their own power. And it goes well beyond just one “voting rights” bill.

Historian Victor Davis Hanson noted in a column yesterday that Democrats are daily undermining the rule of law and attacking all the fundamental pillars of our constitutional Republic — from the filibuster to the Electoral College, from the Supreme Court to the Senate itself.

They are the real insurrectionists who are “systematically waging an insidious revolution … that seeks to dismantle America’s institutions and the rule of law.”

Harris’s Hysteria

Kamala Harris also spoke at the Capitol yesterday morning. Her comments immediately went off the rails when she began her remarks by comparing the January 6th riot to Pearl Harbor and 9/11.

Now, here’s some desperately needed context.

On December 7, 1941, the U.S. fleet anchored in Hawaii was attacked by Imperial Japan. Four battleships were sunk, 188 planes were destroyed and 2,403 Americans were killed that day. The attack brought America into World War II.

On 9/11, radical jihadists attacked the United States. The Twin Towers were destroyed, the Pentagon was in flames, a plane crashed in the fields of Shanksville, Pennsylvania, and 2,996 Americans were killed that day. The atrocity of 9/11 triggered decades of war in Afghanistan and Iraq.

The riot inside the Capitol on January 6th was wrong. It never should have happened.

But it is unconscionable to compare the events of that day to acts of war that killed more than five thousand Americans. It is unconscionable to equate the protesters on Capitol Hill with foreign enemies who meant to destroy our country.

This is pure propaganda that would make Joseph Goebbels blush! Democrats are taking one unpleasant incident and blowing it up into a casus belli — a cause for war against half the country that opposes their extreme, socialist agenda.

The Chicago Coup

Meanwhile, far away from Capitol Hill, the Chicago Teachers Union is pulling off a coup of its own. They are violating the terms of their contract which prohibits striking. Teachers are refusing to go to work, which constitutes a strike. A tip of the hat to the 10% of Chicago public school teachers who actually showed up to work because they want to teach.

The teachers’ unions demanded and got early access to vaccines before most Americans could get them. A bipartisan majority in Congress passed COVID relief bills that provided at least $180 billion to ensure that the schools would be safe in the pandemic.

What did Chicago do with its $2 billion of that money?

Every decent American agrees that racism is bad. But leftist bureaucrats are declaring racism to be a public health crisis. For example, New York City is now accounting for so-called “health-care equity” by giving out vaccines and drugs to people of color first. That’s an obvious violation of federal civil rights laws.

It seems that Chicago and other school districts around the country spent some of their emergency COVID relief funds on critical race theory curriculum because racism is a public health crisis. And now the teachers’ unions are whining that the schools still aren’t safe from COVID.

Biden’s So Busy!

White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki put both feet in her mouth Wednesday. When a reporter asked how Biden was preparing for his speech on the January 6th riot, Psaki replied: “If he were standing here today … he would say we never give him any free time or any time to think, and that’s probably true.”

Well, if Biden’s not thinking that certainly explains a lot. But her statement is absurd. Joe Biden has spent 27% of his presidency on vacation in Delaware!
