The great cultural conflict that is rending America is a war. Thank God it is usually not violent. But occasionally it has been, as we saw in the summer of 2020. Sadly, the risk of it becoming more violent grows every day.

Make no mistake about it, my friends. The left is out to conquer the America that our Founding Fathers bequeathed to us. They intend to replace it with an authoritarian socialist regime in which any dissenting voices will be smashed, isolated and punished.

It was revealing to hear very intelligent, well-meaning, mostly conservative commentators saying how “shocked” they were by Monday night’s extraordinary leak from the Supreme Court, which had to come from one of the nine justices or one of their 36 clerks.

I was not shocked at all. I don’t think there is anything particularly “extraordinary” about this.

It’s disgusting, yes. But if you’re an elected conservative in public office or a conservative commentator who still doesn’t understand the time we’re living in, that’s extraordinary to me.

To his credit, Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell gets it. McConnell blasted Monday night’s leak as “an attack on the independence of the Supreme Court… [and] yet another escalation in the radical left’s ongoing campaign to … substitute mob rule for the rule of law.”

Every institution of our country is under brazen attack by the left. They have infiltrated agencies like the CIA and FBI and used the vast powers of those agencies against their political opponents, most notably Donald Trump.

For years, we have watched as supporters of President Trump and other conservatives were physically attacked in public places and chased off university campuses.

We’ve seen the federal Department of Education turned into an ideological cesspool of indoctrination. We’ve watched as thousands of schools were infected with leftist, Marxist race-baiting materials. We’ve seen attacks on American history on par with enemy propaganda.

We’ve seen a full-throated campaign to weaken law enforcement, empty our jails and open our borders — all at the same time.

When some radical activist tells your seven year-old son that he could be a girl, do you not understand you are at war, that your family and your values are under attack? Just like the Nazis, just like the Soviets, just like the Maoists, the American left intentionally goes after children.

As I outlined in Friday’s report, the left is obviously intent on silencing dissent. The left regularly tried to silence Rush Limbaugh, and it celebrated when he died.

The left banned a sitting president of the United States from social media. The left routinely goes after populist conservatives like Tucker Carlson, not to debate him but to shut him down.

If a liberal like Joe Rogan wanders off the leftist plantation, they go after him. Elon Musk, who is no conservative, will forever have a target on his back.

Even satire sites like the Babylon Bee are censored by the left, which has no sense of humor at all.

Our liberties — the freedom of speech, religious freedom, right to peaceably assemble, our Second Amendment rights — are all under methodical, well-financed, merciless attack. There is virtually no common ground here. Only one side can prevail in the battle for the heart and soul of America.

Compromising The Court

The Supreme Court is the one institution that was supposed to be, as much as possible, devoid of politics. It is obviously influenced by politics — the president nominates and the Senate confirms the justices. But it was designed to be a deliberative body of legal experts evaluating the Constitution.

Two years ago, the last time the justices were considering a major abortion case, Senate Democrat Leader Chuck Schumer publicly threatened the court. It worked. Chief Justice John Roberts reversed himself and sided with the court’s pro-abortion liberals.

The left wanted Justice Stephen Breyer out so a young leftist could take his seat on the court. So, they retired him by announcing that he was leaving before he was ready to announce his own retirement.

Every conservative Supreme Court nominee since Robert Bork has been subjected to vile, disgusting, slanderous attacks designed to completely destroy them. Their spouses and children are collateral damage. No one on the left cared.

Senators prepared to vote for these nominees were accosted in public, confronted in the halls of the Capitol and harassed at their homes. Christian women who came to Washington to pray for Brett Kavanaugh were physically attacked by left-wing banshees.

That’s the America the left is creating: Disagree and you will be destroyed.

For the entire first year of the Biden Administration, the left routinely raised the specter of eliminating the filibuster and stuffing the Supreme Court with however many leftwing hacks they need so it will be nothing more than a rubber stamp for every decision of the authoritarian state.

The left doubled down on those threats Monday night, and every left-wing politician is willing to enable that attack on our constitutional system of government.

So, am I shocked that some leftist clerk or maybe even a liberal justice leaked a draft of Justice Alito’s pro-life opinion? Not at all. I’m only shocked that it took them this long.

Supreme Court clerks are the elite of our law school graduates. If a clerk did in fact leak the opinion, they committed what some have described as “the gravest, most unforgivable sin.”

A leak like this is so serious that the clerk could well be disbarred and prevented from ever becoming a lawyer. Chief Justice John Roberts has ordered the Marshal of the Court to begin an immediate investigation of this “egregious breach of trust.”

But I say this with no fear of contradiction — when the individual is identified, they will be a national hero, a civil rights icon on the order of Martin Luther King, Jr. The left is already celebrating the anonymous individual.

They will get a book contract. They will be on every talk show. Their following on social media will rival AOC’s. They will be welcomed by adoring crowds on university campuses. All because they did whatever they had to do to make sure America continues killing innocent babies.

So, back to my main point.

The most important thing that every American who shares our values can do today is to quietly consider these questions: Do I understand the times I’m living in? Do I realize the moment in history this is?

This is not the 1950s or even the tumultuous 60s. It’s not the Reagan years, God rest his soul. This is either the final years of the American Republic, or the moment we wake up and save the country.

Those are the only two options, my friends.

It’s time to stop being “shocked” at what the left is willing to do.

It’s time to start fighting back for the sake of our families and our future.
