I want to revisit the shocking spectacle in the Senate this week between Sen. Josh Hawley and Berkeley Law Professor Khiara Bridges. Their exchange should be a wakeup call for every freedom-loving American.

This highly educated law professor was testifying before the Senate on abortion. But when she spoke, she referred to “people with the capacity for pregnancy.”

Sen. Hawley asked Professor Bridges to clarify if she was in fact referring to women. It was a good thing he asked because she wasn’t necessarily referring to women.

The professor insisted, “There are also trans-men who are capable of pregnancy as well as non-binary people who are capable of pregnancy.”

When Senator Hawley attempted to follow up by asking if the left no longer saw abortion as a “women’s rights issue,” Professor Bridges attacked him. She accused Hawley of committing “violence” against the trans community.

Now here’s why you should care about this bizarre moment in a Senate hearing.

First, it shows just how committed the left is in its war on normalcy. It shows how much of a threat to free speech and free thought the left truly is.

This law professor immediately accused a senator of being responsible for violence because, like most normal people, he knows that only women get pregnant!

Second, it shows you what our children and grandchildren are dealing with on our university campuses. This professor tried to intimidate a senator into silence. Imagine how she treats the students in her classroom!

But it’s not just radical college campuses. School districts all over America are forcing young kids to use preferred pronouns or to call a girl a boy if that’s what she demands.

They’re forcing our children to lie! And they will force all of us to lie because that’s what Marxists do.

To the left there is no such thing as truth. Moral relativism is a pillar of Marxist, socialist, progressive thought. Truth is whatever the left tells you it is.

In George Orwell’s famous novel 1984, Big Brother demands that you say 2 + 2 = 5. It’s so absurd and outrageous, nothing like that could ever happen in real life, right?

Well, today, the left insists that a developing baby in the womb is not a human being worthy of protection, and the person carrying the baby is not actually a woman. Moreover, the left demands that you must believe both of those lies or you will be labeled a bigot or worse.

That is textbook totalitarianism, and it was on display in the Senate this week for the whole country to see.

The Dystopian Democrats

While the Democrats like to fret about the Handmaid’s Tale, they are the ones actually creating a dystopian society.

Professor Bridges’s attack on normalcy was bad enough. But just as disturbing was the fact that not one Democrat senator challenged her radical nonsense. Sadly, the entire Democrat Party has bought into this insanity.

That’s why Joe Biden’s Supreme Court nominee said she couldn’t define what a woman is. And yet every Senate Democrat voted to confirm her.

Anyone who believes this insanity and any party that embraces it cannot be trusted to govern America.

More Bidenflation

Still reeling from Wednesday’s shocking consumer inflation report, we got slammed with more terrible Bidenflation news yesterday. The producer price index, which measures wholesale prices, jumped 11.3% last month. Much of the increase was due to skyrocketing energy costs, which impact every aspect of the economy.

According to one analysis, the average American worker has lost $3,400 from inflation, and the typical two-income family is losing $6,800. Left-wing CNN says inflation is costing the average household about $500 a month or $6,000 a year.

This is an unmitigated disaster!

A White House spin doctor Wednesday tried to deflect blame, claiming they inherited an economic mess. Really?

Well, the economy grew 4.1% in the fourth quarter of 2020, the final quarter of Trump’s term, and the inflation rate in December 2020 was just 1.4%. That doesn’t sound like a mess to me.

But after 18 months of the Biden/Harris nightmare, it is highly likely that we’re already in a recession, and the inflation rate is 9.1%!

There’s plenty of explanations for the mess. But a big reason it’s happening is because most Biden Administration officials don’t know the first thing about the private sector. Very few of them have any business experience at all. They have never met a payroll. They wouldn’t know how to run a business if their lives depended on it.

Many of them are socialists and I suspect some are even Marxists. So, it should come as no surprise that they are destroying the economy.

These people walk around every day claiming to be compassionate. But they are inflicting massive pain and suffering on Americans of all races and ethnic backgrounds. Most small businesses feel their own government has declared war on them. Certainly, the energy industry is being attacked.

Appeasing Iran

As we noted yesterday, President Biden is in Israel right now trying to resuscitate the failed Obama/Biden nuclear deal with Iran that Donald Trump ended. Israel reportedly got Biden to pledge that the United States is committed to preventing Iran from ever developing nuclear weapons.

I was concerned about the possible concessions Israel might have made in exchange for this commitment. My concerns were somewhat lessened when I saw this exchange between Israeli Prime Minister Yair Lapid and President Biden. Lapid said:

“Words will not stop [the Iranians], Mr. President. Diplomacy will not stop them. The only thing that will stop Iran is knowing that if they continue to develop their nuclear program, the free world will use force.

"The only way to stop them is to put a credible military threat on the table. It should not be a bluff, but the real thing. The Iranian regime must know that if they continue to deceive the world, they will pay a heavy price.”

Unfortunately, Biden reiterated that he’s still talking to Tehran, saying, “I continue to believe that diplomacy is the best way to achieve this outcome.”

Why? Iran is the world’s leading state-sponsor of terrorism. There are new warnings that Iran is still plotting to assassinate U.S. officials. Why is Biden trying to reward them with massive sanctions relief?
