More Attacks Coming?
Last week we told you about the assassination attempt on Philadelphia Police Officer Jesse Hartnett. Edward Archer, who fired 13 shots at close range into Officer Hartnett's patrol car, confessed to police that he did so "in the name of Islam." In recent years, Archer made two trips to the Middle East — one to Saudi Arabia for the hajj and one extended visit to Egypt. At a press conference Friday, Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kenney said, "In no way shape or form does anyone in this room believe that Islam or the teaching of Islam has anything to do with" the shooting of Officer Hartnett. "It is abhorrent," Kenney continued. "It is terrible and it does not represent the religion or any of its teachings."

Taking a Closer Look at the Terrorist Threat
A recent Gallup poll asked Americans to name the No. 1 issue facing the country. What do you suppose came out on top? Not the economy. Not health care. Not immigration. No, the issue that headed the list was terrorism. This hardly seems surprising in the wake of the Paris and San Bernardino attacks. Yet that didn't stop certain critics from dismissing this fear and airing the statistics that show you have more to fear from car accidents, heart disease and ingrown toenails than from terrorism.

Four Stars for Honesty
Actor Samuel L. Jackson is no shrinking violet when it comes to sharing his thoughts about current events. He had a lot to say recently about the 2016 campaign, which was exactly what you might expect from a Hollywood liberal. But his remarks about the San Bernardino shootings were also very revealing.

For Obama, It's Not Delusion, It's Purpose
Good news, America: the Obama administration has achieved peace in Syria. That's according to John Kirby, the Assistant Secretary of State for the Bureau of Public Affairs and spokesperson at the US State Department, who issued a blog post filled with five-word summations of 2015. Here's their summation of the Syrian crisis: "Bringing Peace, Security to Syria."

Inspector in Chief Barack Clouseau
President Obama's reckless neglect of America's national security is a rapidly growing malignancy on this nation, and there are no signs it will get better. Some might attribute his arrogantly inaccurate assessment of the Islamic State group as "a JV team" or his delusional assertion, hours before the terrorist massacres in Paris, that the Islamic State is "contained" to personal pride or political posturing. After all, he never admits his policies aren't working, and he is perpetually partisan.

Question of Semantics: What Do 'Radical Islam' and 'Terrorism' Really Mean?
President Obama and his administration's spokespersons continue to explain the eruption of bombings and mass shootings as "lone wolf attacks" or "work place violence." The cause, they often say, is too many guns in society. Their response is a further demand for sweeping gun laws. Many others, however, refer to these events as radical Islamic terrorism. Is this a game of semantics or is there a real difference between the two terms? As the title implies, there are two terms involved here: "Radical Islam" and "Terrorism." Defining each will tell us much about the president's confusion and the reality that has him befuddled.

What's Eating America?
"We have people across this country who are scared to death," New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie declared loudly at this week's Republican presidential debate in Las Vegas. Virtually the entire debate was based upon this premise. Which is understandable. Since the bloody Islamist attacks in Paris and San Bernardino, terrorism has shot up as the chief concern for most Americans, particularly Republican voters.

Another Bad Deal
A budget deal has been reached in Washington. It is a mammoth bill, at least 2,000 pages long. Conservatives are not happy, while the White House is applauding. I won't ruin your Christmas by going through all the gory details, but I'll just mention two. Planned Parenthood gets full funding. So, too, does the Syrian refugee program, even as the administration continues to insist that no changes are needed to ensure that there are no jihadists among the refugees.
