The midterms are only 12 days away, and Democrat James Talarico and Republican Ken Paxton are in a heated race for Texas’s coveted U.S. Senate seat. Earlier this week, many families across the Lone Star State opened up their mailboxes and found a pamphlet inside. It was addressed to the “students” of the households, and the purported sender was the Transgender Education Network of Texas (TENT), complete with a transgender flag.
Inside the pamphlet was a “TEXAS TRANS AND LGBTQ+ STUDENT RESOURCE GUIDE” with details on how a child can adopt a transgender lifestyle if he or she lives in a non-supportive household. It further explains how children can become emancipated from their parents, how they can seek out-of-state care through specific organizations (and circumvent state laws that were put in place to protect them), and how to procure resources for “gender-affirming care.”
Understandably, Texans were furious. Even households without students received the pamphlet, so a wide variety of families were subjected to its brazenness.
One parent angrily pointed out, “This pamphlet points kids toward emancipation (existing Texas law) and out-of-state care precisely to sidestep these rules and parental consent ... and it is NOT okay! They’re literally mailing us instructions on how our kids can replace us.”
Another parent, who contributed his thoughts to Not the Bee, explained that avoiding this sort of nonsense is why he and his wife chose to homeschool their kids, and yet the transgenderism propaganda even found a way to invade the privacy of their home. It doesn’t seem to matter how hard we try to protect our children from the Left’s predation; the gender activists will find ways to force-feed their ideology into the home.
This pamphlet is a prime example of predatory child grooming. It was sent to households in the hope of reaching kids who are already vulnerable and struggling. Perhaps some of these children are living in a household with a weak father or no father at all — though I’m equally sure the distributor is content with the thought of breaking up normal households.
Indeed, the pamphlet seeks to exploit the natural and normal fissures in family dynamics. Kids and adults fight, disagree, and struggle for power. A struggling teen looking for belonging is already primed to feel like their parents just don’t understand them. They are easy, and all too innocent, targets for these groomers.
The pamphlet also brings a major ballot issue front and center. James Talarico is on board with gender ideology. As a PCUSA seminarian, he loves to say that God is nonbinary — a terrible spin on the real truth that God is beyond gender. Talarico also said in a 2023 interview that besides his family and friends, he loves “trans children.” He has named his favorite drag queen without even pausing to think.
Talarico’s horrifying support for this pernicious ideology has been a key source of division in this election. So much so that he had to backtrack on his position: Talarico now states that he would support a national ban on gender mutilation surgeries for minors. Yet the pamphlet aligns with his true beliefs on the issue. Texans are hopefully too smart to believe his walk-back. Virginia Governor Abigail Spanberger already showed the nation that the Left’s playbook is to pretend to be moderate to win elections, then govern like a radical leftist.
In all fairness, some fishy aspects need pointing out — namely, the timing just weeks before the midterms. The pamphlet claimed to be from TENT. However, the return address is incorrect, as it leads to an Amazon warehouse. One newspaper says it may have been a misprint.
More crucially, TENT asserted it had nothing to do with the pamphlet. In a public statement, the activist organization wrote, “We are aware of text messages and now physical mailers that have been circulated concerning TENT that appear to have been issued by or on behalf of the organization. These text messages and mailers were not authored, authorized, approved, or distributed by TENT and are not affiliated with our organization.” This could be true, but TENT suspiciously scrubbed its website except for the landing page, where it posted the above statement. That’s not the action of an innocent organization.
The question remains: Was this a brazen and overt attack from the transgenderism lobby against our kids? I wouldn’t doubt it. These activists have organized more horrific things in the name of their cult. However, the timing makes me a little suspicious. With us being so close to the midterms and “transing the kids” being a major issue, this would be a clever way to mobilize voters.
Time will tell. We will probably know the truth sometime after November 3. Regardless, Texas parents should head to the polls and vote to protect their kids from leftist gender ideology’s barbaric exploitation of children.
