Donald Trump is an election denier, the Leftmedia really wants you to know. The term “election denier” has been an anti-Republican talking point for years, especially applied to Trump after January 6. But Trump is hardly the first loser to challenge a result. Al Gore, call your office.
Heck, ask any Democrat if Trump won legitimately in 2016. He was an “illegitimate president,” Hillary Clinton repeatedly asserted after losing despite having funded the Russia collusion hoax.
Nevertheless, the Leftmedia has an agenda: elect Democrats. So they’ll lie, cheat, and steal their way to victory. Let’s consider three headlines from the nation’s two leading newspapers as examples.
“Trump declines to unconditionally accept midterm results,” huffs The Washington Post. Who on earth would promise to “unconditionally” accept the results of an election that hasn’t even happened yet?
“I will — if they’re honest elections,” Trump told reporters. As the Post even acknowledges, he’s been consistent in that position:
In 2016, Trump said he would accept the election results “if I win.” In 2020, he repeatedly declined to commit to accept the results, saying “We’re going to have to see what happens.” In 2024, Trump said he would accept the results if the election was “fair and legal and good.”
I don’t have to relitigate January 6 to say that 2020 was absolutely not a fair and secure election. As I’ve said before, just because the fraud was legal doesn’t make it legitimate.
Trump’s objections were often wrongly focused or over the top, but he wasn’t wrong that Democrats and the Leftmedia cheated to win in 2020.
The Washington Post has another headline calling that into question again: “How Trump and his allies are sowing doubt ahead of the midterms.”
President Donald Trump and his allies have spent the final weeks before the midterms showering his supporters with a relentless stream of doubt about the legitimacy of the election, priming them to question results if Republicans lose.
For example, someone said they “know that if all the votes are counted, we’ll win every time.”
Oh, wait, that was Democrat Senator Elizabeth Warren in 2019, before “election denial” was frowned upon.
The Post’s actual “evidence” consists of social media influencers who are indeed warning about possible Democrat election malfeasance: “Nearly 600 high-profile, right-wing social media accounts, podcasts and other online media have published more than 7,000 statements questioning the election’s integrity so far this year, a Washington Post analysis found.”
Gasp.
If Democrats supported election integrity, this would be news, but they don’t, so it’s a manufactured hit piece to complain about the people pointing out the problem.
“That messaging has, in particular, pushed overstated claims that noncitizens are on voter rolls and that mail-in ballots enable widespread fraud,” the Post reports. “Voting by noncitizens is rare, as is fraud involving mail ballots.”
Is it, though?
How does anyone know that voting by noncitizens is rare when 14 states and Washington, DC, don’t require an ID to vote? The Post is parroting the Left’s essentially official position: If we don’t ID people, and we don’t try to find the fraud, then it didn’t happen. The Trump Justice Department has been working hard to ferret out noncitizens from state voter rolls, and Democrats are working just as hard to obstruct that effort. Why is that if noncitizen voting is “rare”?
As for mail-in ballots, never forget that Jimmy Carter warned about mail-in ballot fraud back in 2005. Does it happen? Well, one in five mail-in voters admitted to fraud in 2020. I wouldn’t call that “rare.”
Eight states plus DC automatically mail ballots to all eligible voters. Have you ever received mail at your house meant for a previous resident? Do you think no one fills out one of those ballots illegally simply because it’s illegal? And don’t get me started about how those ballots are counted or “verified.”
Now, for the third Leftmedia headline.
The real threat to elections is ... Trump administration officials monitoring things. Or, as The New York Times put it, “The New Worst-Case Scenario for Election Officials: Federal Interference.”
State and local elections officials regularly plan for floods, fires and computer glitches.
This year, they are teaching poll workers what to do if immigration enforcement officers show up. They are drilling them about the statute that bars federal agents from voting places. They are running through the limits of what federal monitors may and may not do on Election Day.
No, that is not satire from The Babylon Bee.
Just imagine applying the same wording to officials checking tickets to enter a sports game. Or the checkout clerk asking for ID before a young-looking person buys alcohol.
But the Times thinks it’s a threat to treat American elections as serious matters worth securing?
Well, yes, because Democrats lie, cheat, and steal, and the Times’s mission is to help Democrats win.
Finally, let’s step back a minute and consider what federal role each party wants when it comes to elections. Democrats pushed legislation that would negate state voter-ID laws and expand bulk-mail ballots. It would codify lax practices, making cheating easier than ever.
By contrast, the GOP supports the SAVE America Act, which would, among other things, require all states to mandate voter ID, a measure roughly 80% of Americans support.
I know Trump Derangement Syndrome long ago overtook everyone working for the Times and the Post, but it’s pretty clear which party stands for election integrity and which one benefits from undermining it.
