Face-Punching: The Shame of the Left
A vicious strain of violence has infected New York City, and you’ll never guess who they’re blaming for it.
The videos are equal parts stomach-turning, heartbreaking, and infuriating. One shaken young woman after another recounts having been randomly punched in the face by a male assailant in the once-magnificent leftist hellhole of New York City.
There has been a recent trend of women in NYC getting randomly approached by men in broad daylight and punched in the face resulting in them getting bumps, bruising, and hematomas.

Mayor Eric Adams, District Attorney Alvin Bragg, Attorney General Letitia James, and Governor Kathy Hochul must be so proud of what they’ve wrecked. And so must the citizenry of the city, which had the great bad sense to vote 76% to 23% for Joe Biden over Donald Trump in 2020, thereby honoring de Maistre’s maxim that every citizenry gets the government it deserves.
Yes, New York — which once elected and reelected a great crime-fighting Republican reformer, Rudy Giuliani, but has since elected gun-grabbing “moderate” Mike Bloomberg, then wrecking ball leftist Bill de Blasio, and now finger-pointing, blame-shifting, soft-on-crime Eric Adams — is indeed getting the government it deserves. Unfortunately, it’s the city’s women who are really getting it. Good and hard. Right in the face.
To be clear: By focusing on this particular strain of violence against women, we don’t mean to ignore or diminish the everyday violence that men inflict upon women in our increasingly sick society.
But it appears that this rash of New York City batteries against young white women by what appear to be black and brown men has now expanded to include elderly white women. Indeed, elderly white churchgoing women.
As the New York Post reports: “A mugger brutally punched a 68-year-old parishioner down the steps of her Queens church early Sunday — then snatched her purse and rode off in her car as she [writhed] on the ground in pain. … The victim was approaching the entrance of the St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church on 152nd Street in Briarwood around 8:20 a.m. when the much-younger attacker struck, according to cops and the church’s pastor, Father Konstantinos Kalogridis.”
The assault was captured on video, and the sheer viciousness of it makes one wonder not only about the sadistic cruelty that infects some of our fellow men but also about the state of a society that seems to blithely accept such violence.

What might be the root cause of all this? Hard-left Salon columnist Amanda Marcotte has an idea: MAGA-fueled rage. Think we’re kidding? Get a load of the headline: “Men punching random women in NYC: A desperate last gasp of the male rage fueling MAGA.”
That’s right: The orange devil made them do it. As Marcotte writes: “The nation is having a moment of increasingly unhinged male fury at women for daring to have lives that are centered around something other than catering to a man’s every whim. Unleashed by Donald Trump and the MAGA movement, there’s an upswell of loud male entitlement shouting at us from every corner.”
It’s remarkable, albeit also unsettling, the degree to which Donald Trump lives rent-free in these leftists’ otherwise vacant heads. Marcotte epitomizes this, but so do the 16-or-so Salon readers who hang on her every word. “The rise of MAGA is fueled by misogyny,” Marcotte continues. “But it’s less a backlash than a tantrum, a rage explosion by men who want to restore their dominance but fear that, this time, women won’t buckle to their bullying. This rash of men punching women in New York City captures this moment in a dark way.”
We hate to break it to Marcotte, but the MAGA-minded face-punchers of deep-blue New York are akin to the “MAGA Country” Nigerians of Jussie Smollett’s Chicago: They’re a progressive hoax.
As for Marcotte herself, we’re left to wonder whether she’s a conservative plant, embedded there at Salon to discredit the Left with the helium-filled weight of her words.
