We Want Justice!

Regardless of who wins the election in two weeks, America needs a move of God to sweep the nation.

We’ve all done it, haven’t we? We witnessed someone breaking the law and wondered where the police were. You’re sitting at a traffic light, and someone rolls through, or worse, blasts through without even slowing down. Maybe you’re on the highway and an obviously impaired driver nearly runs you off the road.

Okay, maybe it’s just me wanting people to have consequences when they break the law. I want to see justice done.

I know there are many people across the nation right now who are both angry and concerned about the apparent two-tiered justice system we have in our country. If you’re a progressive, you get a pass. Hillary Clinton, during the 2016 election, comes to mind. She deleted over 30,000 emails from her private server while under subpoena. Joe Biden has Top Secret files he was never authorized to have, but he’s too cognitively challenged to be charged. But he can still run the country!

Trump, on the other hand, is charged with anything and everything. I hear there’s a grand jury considering charges for cutting the tags off his mattress (okay, I made that up). The abuse of our legal system should concern all of us. I’m concerned, but there’s a much greater justice system that concerns me even more: God’s justice!

God is holy and cannot tolerate sin of any kind. But you might say America is a Christian nation and “God sheds His Grace on thee!” Are we a godly nation? George Barna says only 10% of us are truly Christians. Over 30 million “Christians,” according to Barna, plan to sit out this election again. The reality is that if we were to take the sin of abortion alone, God would be justified to bring His judgment upon America.

God allowed the 10 northern tribes of Israel to fall to the Assyrians, not only because they had abandoned the God of Israel but because they began to sacrifice their children to the pagan god Molech. The people of Judah saw this, but 100 years later, they, too, began sacrificing their children to Molech. In His mercy, God allowed Judah to go into captivity in Babylon. They slaughtered thousands; we’ve killed tens of millions. If God is just (and He is), how long can He spare His justice?

During my prayer time this past year, this was a question on my mind and heart. The Lord reminded me of His promise to Abraham as he interceded for his nephew Lot, who lived in Sodom. When God announced His judgment of Sodom and Gomorrah because of their sin, Abraham asked a crucial question: “Would the God of the earth do right?” Better stated, You won’t kill the innocent with the guilty. After an intense time of plea bargaining, the Lord said, “I will spare Sodom even if there are only 10 righteous men.” Abe thought it was a good time to stop. We know how the story went.

Today, I’m encouraged by the millions of Christians across the nation who are praying for God’s fulfillment of His promise in II Chronicles 7:14: “If My people who are called by My name humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, THEN I will hear from Heaven, will forgive their sin and will heal their land.” (Emphasis added.)

Regardless of who wins the election in two weeks, America needs a move of God to sweep the nation. A move so powerful it changes the moral fabric of our nation. If we do nothing, how long can a Holy God withhold His justice?

Pray, America!
