Jen Psaki and John Oliver Insist Dems Keep ‘Transing’
“There is no evidence” that men in women’s sports “pose any threat to safety or fairness”? Humph!
Former White House Press Secretary and current MSNBC pundit Jen Psaki and “Last Week Tonight” host/comedian John Oliver want all the Democrats who are wavering on the transgender issue to shut up and quit being bigots.
Psaki’s rant was sparked by Congressman Seth Moulton (D-MA), who had the temerity to say that “Democrats spend way too much time trying not to offend anyone rather than being brutally honest about the challenges many Americans face.” He explained, “I have two little girls. I don’t want them getting run over on a playing field by a male or formerly male athlete, but as a Democrat, I’m supposed to be afraid to say that.”
Moulton was immediately proven correct in his assessment of his own party. His campaign manager quit, the chair of the political science department at Tufts University declared that Moulton would be getting no more interns (the university has since contradicted the chairman’s stance), and Massachusetts Governor Maura Healey accused Moulton of “playing politics with people.”
Here is Psaki’s lecture:
One of the lines that ran over and over again in … ads and throughout right-wing media is this idea that America is faced with a crisis of boys playing in girls sports. Now these ads created this perception that the issues of trans kids playing sports was dominating schools across the country, which is completely false. … If that were actually an issue at thousands of schools across the country, it would be worthy of a debate. But there are just incredibly few examples of transgender girls playing in youth sports. And when we see those examples, there isn’t evidence that these kids are a threat to safety or fairness.
Jen Psaki says Democrats must double down on pushing the transgender agenda on Americans, including allowing men to play against girls in sports

Her argument is a classic Democrat trope: It’s not happening, and it’s great that it is happening. Psaki reasons that there are not many males playing female sports, so it’s not an issue. However, she also argues that Democrats shouldn’t give up on pushing the transgenderism agenda because it’s super important.
Psaki was not alone in attacking her own side for pointing out that the transgenderism agenda is alienating voters. John Oliver had this to say during his show last weekend: “It was frustrating to see the Harris campaign fail to formulate a response, especially because it’s pretty easy to do. … There are vanishingly few trans girls competing in high schools anywhere. Even if there were more, trans kids, like all kids, vary in athletic ability, and there is no evidence they pose any threat to safety or fairness. It is very weird for you to be so focused on this subject.”
Oliver continued, “If you genuinely want to address the biggest concern for most girls who play high school sports, you’d be less worried about this and more about the creepy assistant volleyball coach who keeps liking their posts on f***ing Instagram.”
Like Psaki, he trots out the same “it’s not happening” trope but adds that those who disagree with his perspective are “weird.”

He says Kamala just did a poor job of explaining that boys have no advantage over girls.

J.K. Rowling, best-selling author and warrior in the fight for women’s rights, put it best when she responded to Oliver’s comments with her own lengthy X post, stating:
Again and again I’ve come up against men who argue exactly what Oliver does here, using the very same talking points. With a straight face, the ‘believe the science’ guys will say ‘actually, we don’t yet have enough data to say whether men and boys are stronger and faster than women and girls’. The ‘be kind’ crew can’t see what the issue is. ‘Why are you bothered, it only affects a tiny minority of females?’
To prove to their progressive credentials — and (coincidentally, I’m sure) indemnify themselves against repercussions from cultural elites in the media, academia and publishing who’ve showed themselves more than ready to kick people to the kerb for failing to mouth the approved mantras - people with a lot to lose are currently prepared to make idiots of themselves. They’ll stare unabashedly into a camera and insist that their audiences’ eyeballs are incapable of seeing what’s plain as day, and that there’s something wrong with the great unwashed for believing that girls are being robbed of opportunities and put at physical risk.
If you want to tell the world you’re happy to watch females suffer injury, humiliation and the loss of sporting opportunities to bolster an elitist post-modern ideology embraced by a minute fraction of the world’s population, fair enough; you’re allowed your opinion. But if you’ve just told girls they don’t deserve fair sport, maybe rethink using all too real and common sexual predation against young women as a punchline for your ‘edgy’ closing joke.
Aside from Rowling’s excellent points, let’s also address the three main arguments that Psaki and Oliver make. The first argument is that it’s not happening. Well, according to the United Nations, it is happening — and on a massive scale. Female athletes have lost almost 900 medals to transgender-identifying athletes. That is across all disciplines and sports.
The second argument is that there is no proof it effects the safety of female athletes. Payton McNabb, a 16-year-old volleyball player who was hit in the head with a volleyball spiked by an opposing team’s male player and has suffered permanent brain damage, would beg to differ. Furthermore, all the women who had to compete against that male Olympic boxer this past summer probably loved getting the daylights beat out of them (sarcasm). Italy’s Angela Carini, who lasted 46 seconds in her own match against the male, endured one really hard hit. She left the ring in tears. Tell us again how the safety of women athletes is insignificant.
And finally, is it really weird to feel that men shouldn’t play in women’s sports?
According to Gallup, the majority of Americans do not want males to play in female sports. That number is only growing, and across all political persuasions. In 2021, 86% of Republicans, 63% of independents, and 41% of Democrats said people should play on sports teams that match their biological sex. In 2023, that percentage became 93%, 67%, and 48%, respectively.
Psaki and Oliver are in the minority on this issue. However, if they continue to push transgenderism on the American people and the rest of the Democrats fall in line, perhaps the red waves will be even bigger down the road.
