European Globalists Howl Over Musk
The billionaire’s promotion of free speech threatens their hold on power.
“This is becoming increasingly dangerous,” whined Adonis Georgiadis, Greece’s health minister. Of billionaire Elon Musk, head of Donald Trump’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), Georgiadis complained, “Someone cannot simply use their platform, wealth and connections to try to dictate how governments are formed in each nation.”
What is the “troubling and far from amusing” behavior that has gotten Georgiadis and a number of Europe’s leaders seeing red?
Well, it boils down to free speech, an ideal that Europe’s globalist-minded leaders increasingly view as a threat to good governance rather than the key feature underpinning the West’s development of individual liberty and human rights.
Ever since Musk bought Twitter, now X, he effectively blew up the globalist Left’s stranglehold on speech. Musk has proven himself to be a threat to these global elites who can no longer control the accepted narratives fed to the masses.
Beyond posting his comments on X, Musk has done nothing to these European leaders. Yet that is precisely why they hate him. He is using his free speech platform to expose them.
In the United Kingdom, Prime Minister Keir Starmer smeared Musk as a peddler of “lies and misinformation.” This is in the wake of the British government scandal having covered up the scope of the crimes of the so-called “grooming gangs” that are responsible for having raped hundreds if not thousands of English girls and young women. In trolling fashion, Musk posted a question asking his millions of followers whether the U.S. “should liberate the people of Britain from their tyrannical government.”
Germany’s leftist chancellor, Olaf Scholz, whose party is likely headed for defeat in the coming elections, has blasted Musk for voicing support for the right-wing Alternative for Germany party (AfD). According to mainstream media outlets, the AfD is a party too closely associated with the country’s Nazi past. Whether that is actually accurate is difficult to ascertain, given the blatant bias of the mainstream media and the deliberate confusion over whether the Nazis — the National Socialist Workers Party — were actually “right-wing,” as falsely alleged.
What is clear is that Scholz would love nothing better than to silence Musk. He recently huffed that Musk was supporting “right-wing politicians all over Europe,” which he declared “not good for the democratic development in all [of] the European Union.”
It’s interesting how leftist politicians assert that democracy is under threat if leftist politics and policies aren’t being promoted over and against conservative or contrarian voices.
Instead of expressing their support and trust in freedom of speech — the foundational principle that makes democracy possible — these leftist elites continuously attack it as a problem that threatens democracies. Instead, free speech presents a threat to their own corrupt power structures. It does no damage to democracy at all.
However, European leaders’ biggest problem with Musk lies in his role with Donald Trump’s administration. They correctly observe that Musk has expanded Trump’s global impact. This is what they fear the most — that the populist movement Trump has successfully wielded in the U.S. will become a wider phenomenon across Europe, resulting in globalist elites being thrown from power.
Musk has dared to challenge their hold on power, and thus, they cry out against him as a supposed existential threat.
