• May inflation: Donald Trump’s tariffs have yet to cause a widely anticipated impact on inflation. Last month, inflation rose less than forecast, with the Bureau of Labor Statistics reporting that the consumer price index increased by 0.1%, with the annual inflation rate hitting 2.4%. Dow Jones had predicted May’s inflation would come in at 0.2%. The leading factors driving inflation were increases in food and housing costs, while drops in energy and vehicle prices blunted it. Still, the core CPI factors — food and energy — came in at 0.1% and 2.8% respectively, below the forecast of 0.3% and 2.9%. While recognizing the inflation report as “reassuring,” Principal Asset Management strategist Seema Shah countered, “Tariff-driven price increases may not feed through to the CPI data for a few more months yet, so it is far too premature to assume that the price shock will not materialize.”

• China rare earth deal: Donald Trump announced this morning that an agreement with China regarding magnets and rare earth minerals is done. While Trump and Chinese dictator Xi Jinping still need to sign the agreement, the negotiations have concluded. China will provide the magnets and minerals up front, while the U.S. concessions will include allowing Chinese students to attend American universities. Trump also said that “we” are getting 55% tariffs while China gets 10%. China is the top producer and processor of rare earths, and mitigating its dominance is a strategic concern for the U.S., as rare earths are vital for renewable energy and defense projects.

• June 14 anarchy: Lefties are planning another “Summer of Love.” They kicked off the festivities by rioting and looting in Los Angeles, but make no mistake, they’re bringing the “fun” to cities across America this Saturday. June 14 is Flag Day, the 250th birthday of the U.S. Army, Trump’s birthday, and — wait for it — “No Kings” riot/protest day. Teachers union president Randi Weingarten is taking time out of her busy schedule fighting for illegals in LA to organize the “No Kings” protests across the country. Visiting the No Kings website is an eye-opening experience that drives home just how inorganic these protests are. It sure would be a pity if a bunch of conservatives in MAGA hats crashed these events on Saturday.

• Democrat representative indicted: New Jersey Democrat Rep. LaMonica McIver was indicted by a federal grand jury on Tuesday on charges of assault and infringement of immigration officials. “While people are free to express their views,” stated Acting U.S. Attorney for New Jersey Alina Habba, “they must not do so in a manner that endangers law enforcement and the communities those officers serve.” Early last month, McIver was among a small contingent of Democrat lawmakers that sought access to an ICE detention facility in Newark. Footage of the incident appears to show McIver throwing her elbows into ICE officers. McIver claims that this is a politically motivated prosecution by the Trump administration and that, as a member of Congress, she had a right to access the facility in her oversight role. If convicted on all charges, McIver faces a maximum sentence of up to 17 years in prison.

• Terry Moran out at ABC: Actions have consequences. For once, the mainstream media could not shield one of its own: Terry Moran has been fired from ABC. In a now-deleted post on X, Moran, who interviewed President Trump in April, blasted White House Deputy Chief of Staff for Policy Stephen Miller and the president as “world-class haters.” Speaking of Miller, Moran called him “richly endowed with the capacity for hatred,” explaining that you could see this just by looking at Miller, whose hatred is “his spiritual nourishment.” For comparison, Moran explained that Trump’s spiritual nourishment is “his own glorification.” ABC noted that Moran’s post was a clear violation of its policies and that the network holds its team to “the highest standards of objectivity.”

• Democrats want noncitizen voting: The Democrat-majority Washington, DC, Council passed a measure in 2022 to allow noncitizens to vote in local elections. On Tuesday, the GOP majority in the House overcame 148 Democrats to repeal that measure. That’s right — 148 Democrats voted to keep allowing noncitizens to vote; only 56 sided with the Republicans in securing DC elections. Republican Oversight Chairman James Comer attempted to block the illegal voting scheme in 2023, but the Democrat-controlled Senate did not take up his bill. Democrats oppose election integrity at every level because they are fundamentally a party opposed to the Rule of Law and law-abiding citizens.

• Restoring more Confederate base names: At a celebration in Fort Bragg, North Carolina, marking the Army’s upcoming 250th anniversary, Commander in Chief Donald Trump declared, “We are also going to be restoring the names of Fort Picket, Fort Hood, Fort Gordon, Fort Rutger, Fort Polk and Fort AP Hill and Fort Robert E. Lee.” Earlier this year, SecDef Pete Hegseth had announced that Fort Bragg and Fort Benning would once again bear their original names after being altered as part of Joe Biden’s DoD Diversity, Equity and Inclusion mandates regarding military bases originally named after Confederate generals. Like Bragg and Benning, the twist is that, in accordance with congressional guidelines, all the military base name restorations are to honor soldiers who have distinguished themselves in combat who share the same last name as the Confederate generals who were formerly being honored. Of those now being honored, the Army noted, “Five of them received the Medal of Honor, three received the Distinguished Service Cross and one received the Silver Star.”

• Biles apologizes to Gaines: Olympic gymnast Simone Biles has apologized to women’s rights advocate Riley Gaines after personally attacking her for highlighting the unfairness of males competing in girls’ and women’s sports. “I’ve always believed competitive equity & inclusivity are both essential in sport,” Biles wrote in an X post. “The current system doesn’t adequately balance these important principles, which often leads to frustration and heated exchanges, and it didn’t help for me to get personal with Riley, which I apologize for.” Gaines responded, “I accept Simone’s apology for the personal attacks, including the ones where she body-shamed me. I know she knows what this feels like. She’s still the greatest female gymnast of all time.” Gaines then called on Biles to join her in the “fight to support fair sports and a future for female athletes” because “little girls deserve the same shot to achieve that you had.”
