New Jersey’s Anti-ICE Rabble-Rousers

The pro-illegal-alien “protests” in The Garden State have resulted in heinous violent acts against law enforcement officers.

In New Jersey, so-called protesters have been demonstrating outside the Delaney Hall immigration detention center in Newark. These yahoos are protesting because they received reports that migrant detainees were going on hunger strikes due to poor conditions and alleged mistreatment by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents.

The families of some of these detainees have reported that their loved ones are not getting fair access to medical or legal aid and that some of the food has worms in it. This was enough for immigrant activists like the New Jersey branch of the ACLU to send in the cavalry, culminating in many days of chaos.

The Department of Homeland Security has vehemently denied these protesters’ claims. They have also been denied by the private contractor that oversees the facility’s operations, GEO Group, which declared this was all “part of a coordinated, politically motivated campaign” sparked by advocacy groups that happen to hate ICE.

New Jersey Governor Mikie Sherrill was unable to get to the bottom of this mess because she was denied entry to the facility last Friday. At that point, however, the demonstrations had already turned violent. Protesters have thrown cinder blocks at cars, three of which hit law enforcement officers attempting to control the violent mob, and one rabble-rouser even threatened to kill an ICE officer and his family. Video captured the person saying, “I’ll kill your whole f***ing family… Your whole f***ing family is dead.” The 27-year-old was later arrested.

Sherrill pointed out that much of the violence appears to be coming from imported protesters. During a press conference Saturday afternoon, the governor addressed the out-of-state interlopers. “To the people coming from out of state to create chaos and dangerous situations: You should not be here,” she instructed. “You are not helping the people detained at Delaney Hall, you are not helping detainee families, and you are certainly not keeping New Jersey safe.”

The New York Post also reports that many of the protesters are Antifa thugs. Remember when Joe Biden’s team tried to gaslight us into thinking that Antifa was only an idea and not a domestic terrorist group?

Obviously, Sherrill’s messaging has not helped diffuse the situation. In fact, as a Democrat, she ultimately sides with the protesters. One pertinent example occurred over the weekend, when Sherrill claimed that she forced the federal government to “cave” to her demands that the detention center resume visitations for families and lawyers.

DHS quickly reframed her petty attempt to score political points, saying, “We did not cave to the Governor’s demands. Visitation was suspended because the violent riots outside the facility made it unsafe for our officers, detainees’ families and lawyers to visit the facility.”

Sunday saw the most arrests associated with the ongoing protests. Newark Mayor Ras Baraka had instituted a curfew around Delaney Hall that was staunchly enforced over the weekend by local police and DHS. After issuing a warning and then deploying tear gas to dissuade curfew-breakers, 20 protesters stubbornly refused to leave. They were all arrested.

As of Monday afternoon, President Donald Trump had reportedly sent Border Czar Tom Homan to investigate the reports of mistreatment. Homan has yet to release a statement on his findings. However, DHS has promised that ICE will continue to work as normal at Delaney Hall and that it will remain undeterred by the protests. Governor Sherrill wants ICE to turn down the temperature, but based on all the reports, the ball is entirely in her court.
