Well, it finally happened. Tucker Carlson admitted what everyone who has been even somewhat following his podcast probably guessed was inevitable. Carlson is leaving the Republican Party.

During an interview on “Can’t Be Censored,” Carlson said, “I would not support the Republican Party. There’s no chance I would support the Republican Party.” He quickly added, “I’m not going to support the Democratic Party — I’m not sure what I’m going to do.”

Carlson then offered his reason for abandoning the GOP:

How could I or any American voter support a political party that’s not loyal to the United States? That puts the interests of a foreign country above those of its own citizens. It’s not possible to vote for people like that, and I’m not going to.

There’s no defending this because it’s immoral and it’s exactly the opposite of what a political party in a democracy is charged with doing — which is representing its own voters, its own citizens, its own nation, and they’re not doing that.

So no, I’m out. And if I’m out, then I think a lot of other people are out.

Well, there are many red-blooded American Patriots who will still vote for Republican candidates. They will thoroughly reject Carlson’s patently ridiculous allegation that the Republican Party and the Trump administration are not loyal to the nation — and even more absurd, that to support them would be immoral.

Can anyone genuinely argue with a straight face that any presidential administration over the last two decades has been more overtly pro-America than Trump’s? Donald Trump was the one unapologetically campaigning on America First. Whether you agree or disagree with Trump’s policy decisions, there is no question that “Make America Great Again” is not just a campaign slogan but the primary agenda of his presidency.

Carlson’s complaint only reveals just how much he has lost touch with what has actually been happening.

“I voted Republican my entire life,” Carlson protested. “I’ve been a consistent defender for 35 years of the Republican Party.”

Is that entirely true? According to The Daily Wire’s Ben Shapiro, “He was a registered Democrat from 2006 to 2020. He said he did that so he could vote for the Democrats in primaries and manipulate the system — except that Washington, D.C., where he was living, has a closed primary system.”

Moreover, Carlson gave a different answer in 2017: “I don’t want to give the party thing because it’s actually misleading. I never vote, so that’s the truth. I didn’t vote this time, I never do.”

So, was Carlson being honest then, or is he being honest now?

It’s clear that Carlson wants to influence who people vote for — or rather, who they should not vote for. He obviously doesn’t want Americans voting for Republicans because that would be “immoral” or something.

What is genuinely immoral is Carlson’s apparent willingness to falsely equate Israel’s war against Iran and its terrorist proxies Hamas and Hezbollah as genocidal on par with Nazi Germany’s Holocaust against the Jews.

When he mentions “the interests of a foreign country,” he means Israel. Carlson seemingly has little qualm with bearing false witness against Israel, seeking to poison the minds of his audience against the world’s only Jewish-majority state.

Interestingly, not that many years ago, Carlson would have condemned his current anti-Israel ravings as lunacy. When he was still at Fox News, he expressed the strong traditional Republican position in support of Israel and its right to exist and defend itself.

Yet since his firing from Fox News, his views on Israel have wandered like a moth toward the flame of antisemitism. He has regularly espoused kooky antisemitic conspiracy theories as his antagonistic views toward Israel have seemingly only become more strident.

Indeed, one can trace Carlson’s fallout with Trump to the president’s efforts to help Israel fight against Iran. This is where Carlson espouses the preposterous notion that Israel is effectively controlling American foreign policy.

Carlson’s objection to the U.S.-Israel joint operation against the Iranian regime appears primarily motivated by his disdain for Israel. He writes of the nuclear threat posed by Iran as effectively of little concern, and simply an excuse for the U.S. and Israel to destroy Iran. Has he forgotten America’s history with Iran ever since the Islamic Republic took control of the nation?

Despite Carlson’s serious objections to Trump’s actions regarding both Iran and Israel, that doesn’t explain why he would abandon the GOP over what amounts to a rather minor issue.

He says he doesn’t support Democrats. While that may be all well and good in theory, in practical terms, he is doing just that. Especially when he claims that a lot of people will follow him in not voting for Republicans. Obviously, that helps Democrats, and if Carlson thinks Republicans aren’t loyal to America, then how in the world can he not see that the globalist-minded, open-borders-defending Democrat Party isn’t many times worse?

It’s tempting to think that Carlson is simply espousing the rationale of a foolish child who flips the board when the game isn’t going his way. Then again, maybe that’s exactly what Carlson is doing. Since Trump is neither listening to his concerns nor following his advice, he has flipped and hit the eject button in the hopes of hurting the GOP’s election chances, which in turn will damage Trump’s ability to lead the nation.

So, who’s the one with loyalty issues?
