This is what happens when you ignore the warning signs. Maybe we tried telling ourselves, This can’t happen in America. For years, refugees escaping from places like Cuba, Vietnam, China, and North Korea tried warning us. They could see it coming. The red flags were everywhere as we allowed socialism to fester and grow in our nation.

Members of Antifa — the radical leftist group Democrats tried to tell us was a myth (even though it has its own flag) — claim they are the anti-fascists while destroying everything around them like fascists.

New York Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez took Congress by storm for reasons unknown to normal people. She hated Donald Trump, so that worked for her.

Now we’ve got socialism being repackaged as Democratic Socialism, which I’ve been calling communism. Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) candidates are popping up all over the country in deep-blue cities and states — Seattle, Colorado, New Jersey, Maine — and the list is growing.

New York City Mayor Zohran Kwame Mamdani has become the party’s superstar. His name alone should have been a red flag. What do you get when you mix a radical Islamist with a Marxist? New Yorkers can’t say they weren’t warned.

Unfortunately, the sudden explosion of communist candidates spoiled some of the Independence Day celebrations. Personally, I’m not going to let it bother me because America is not going to be taken over by communists anytime soon. Just look around the country and see how many Americans are celebrating the 250th anniversary of our independence. I’ve said it before, but I’ll say it again: There are more of us than there are of them.

Our heritage, spiritual history, and love of freedom are not something that’s going to be surrendered easily. Remind me — who has the 500 million guns across this country? Asking for a friend.

Remember, this started over 100 years ago now. On September 12, 1905, nearly 100 people met in New York City with one goal: to destroy the Christian worldview that guided our nation since its founding via the Intercollegiate Socialist Society (later designated the League for Industrial Democracy). They wanted to replace Christianity in our culture with the ideas of an unknown author, Karl Marx. These were not just radical students but well-known individuals from a variety of walks of life.

The founder of the ISS was 26-year-old Upton Sinclair. Jack London, only 29 years old, was elected the first president. Clarence Darrow, Walter Lippmann, and W.E.B. DuBois were early members.

This group grew by holding conventions in 1910 and 1917 and was active on dozens of college campuses. As members graduated, they became involved in industry, education, and even the pulpit. They had a plan, and we’re seeing the results of the seeds planted over a century ago.

But God has a plan too, and it is being implemented not just across America but around the world. When Satan succeeded in killing Jesus on the cross, he thought he had finally won the battle started in the Garden of Eden. Satan thought he was smarter than the God of all creation. Right now, he thinks he’s winning, but the die has been cast.

Satan is going to be defeated. Our job is to stand in faith, put on the whole armor of God (Ephesians 6:10-19), and stand against the enemies of our faith. As the Apostle Paul said, “And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season, we shall reap, if we faint not” (Galatians 6:9).
