Dear Diary: Fauci Is an Egocentric and Maniacal Liar

The former NIAID director became the face of pandemic response, but his batty lies and devastating deception are revealed in the pages of his own diary.

And you thought you didn’t like or trust Anthony Fauci before.

The former director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) did enormous damage to the credibility of our nation’s institutions and “experts” because he had such an outsized hand in destroying our economy and countless lives during the COVID pandemic. We have a lengthy archive about him and his path of destruction.

Fauci was wrong about masks (after he was right about them). He was wrong about social distancing, which he later admitted “sort of just appeared.” He was wrong about virus transmission by the vaccinated, asymptomatic spread, natural immunity, and more. He was dishonest about the death rate.

All the while, he arrogantly dismissed critics: “They are really criticizing science because I represent science.”

For good reason, Kentucky Republican Senator Rand Paul has viewed Fauci as a nemesis for quite some time. So much so that he’s made it his mission to reveal who Fauci really was and is. Paul released 1,141 pages from the bad doctor’s diaries during the pandemic. Fauci received one of those dime-a-dozen pardons from Joe Biden’s autopen, so he’ll get away with his previous perjury. Regardless, he and Paul will face off in a hearing before the Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs on Wednesday.

Buckle up and grab the popcorn!

“During his time as NIAID Director, and particularly during the COVID pandemic, Dr. Anthony Fauci took meticulous notes about his work,” Paul said in his preface to the diary pages. “He made note of conversations, decisions, and his thoughts about actions taken by politicians and other officials.” To say those notes are revealing would be an epic understatement.

One of the most damaging of Fauci’s fibs was about the virus’s supposed origin in the Wuhan wet market, rather than the ChiComs’ Wuhan Institute of Virology P4 lab where scientists were researching coronaviruses in bats.

Lo and behold, Fauci knew the truth. On January 26, 2020, he wrote:

It now appears using epi data and genomic data that the first infection was in early December and was not connected to the market. The infections spread among people weeks before the Chinese reported that they were dealing with a new infection and that gave the virus time to establish itself in multigenerational (sustained) spread. Remember, early on the Chinese were saying that there is no human to human transmission and all the original 27 cases were from the market. Now we know the market was not the source, it was the amplifier. Having said that, somewhere the virus jumped from animals to humans. [Emphasis added.]

Publicly, of course, he downplayed the lab origin. As The Wall Street Journal editorial board notes, “Dr. Fauci orchestrated publication of a scientific paper to suppress the theory that Covid leaked from the Wuhan Institute of Virology.”

Paul adds that “Fauci pushed back on the FBI’s lab-leak case,” delaying intelligence consensus for years. Leftmedia and Big Tech censorship, which dealt a serious blow to our publication and others like it, can be traced back to Fauci’s lies.

Why did the virus’s origin matter? Well, for one thing, the Chinese Communists are not our friends, and COVID was not entirely an accident, let alone natural. For another, Fauci’s NIAID previously funded gain-of-function research at that very Wuhan lab, and it would have been awfully inconvenient for him to be tied to the virus itself. The funding, he wrote, “will be misconstrued by those who want to make a case for our involvement in the outbreak.”

Meanwhile, Fauci lied to Congress, insisting under oath that NIH “has not ever and does not now fund gain-of-function research.”

Another lie was his assertion that he had nothing to do with the devastating lockdowns. “I didn’t recommend locking anything down,” he once protested. “Show me a school that I shut down and show me a factory that I shut down,” he taunted on another occasion. “Never. I never did.”

Actually…

Here’s his diary entry from March 15, 2020:

I spoke with Bill de Blasio (Mayor – NYC) and convinced him based on what I was saying publicly and my conversation tonight to close the NYC schools (he had already decided based on what I was saying on TV). I went on to tell him he should close the bars and restaurants in NYC. He said that he would base this on my recommendation.

I had a similar call with Ann O'Leary, the COS [chief of staff] of Gov. Gavin Newsom of California. Ann said that based on my TV appearances today and yesterday, the Governor has decided to close the schools in California as well as the bars and restaurants.

Fauci didn’t technically order the shutdowns — he had no authority to do so — but he did convince the politicians who ordered them.

Numerous diary entries fixate on his public image, as Fauci reveled in the “very flattering” media coverage. “Looks like almost 70 percent of Fauci’s diary are just press clippings about Fauci, w/ his own self-flattery sprinkled between,” notes journalist Tom Elliott, who then joked, “He should be sent to a laboratory, studied & observed, so scientists can try to understand how an ego can consume its host.”

Fauci cultivated hero worship, building friendships with the journalists who could best elevate him. Jake Tapper was one of the worst. Fauci wrote in one entry that he “gave Jake some questions to ask” another doctor.

Furthermore, “Jake clearly believes that Trump is totally nuts,” Fauci wrote on October 23, 2020. Days later, Fauci-pal Tapper would moderate a presidential debate. Put another way, Fauci was an executive branch bureaucrat who colluded with the media to defeat his boss in the 2020 election.

Anthony Fauci was a grossly overpaid sociopath and a narcissistic liar. Schools were closed, and kids lost out on vital education. People were fired because they refused the COVID vaccines. Trust in public health officials tanked. Fauci was arguably the most destructive unelected American official in history.

But hey, at least he got a lot of awards, honorary doctorates, fawning press coverage, and millions of dollars.
