Tax credit gets 62 Dem votes.
Sixty-two House Democrats opposed Barack Obama Friday when they voted for the American Research and Competitiveness Act of 2014, a bill that would give tax breaks for companies engaged in research and development. The White House issued a statement a few days earlier saying it would oppose the bill because the tax cuts would take $156 billion from the federal coffers without proposing any budget cuts to offset the tax break, simply throwing $156 billion more into the deficit black hole. (As if deficits concern them.) The bill passed the House 274 to 131 on Friday. If Obama vetoes the act, he will look like a fool, but the real loser will be a sound budget and clear tax code, sacrificed on the altar of special interest tax credits. More…
