Taxpayer Money for Puppets to Tell Kids to Eat Veggies

The federal government never has a problem spending your tax dollars. The Washington Free Beacon reports on a healthy bit of waste: “The National Institutes of Health (NIH) has paid $374,670 thus far to a researcher at Baylor College of Medicine to create the ‘motivational theater,’ which will feature a fruit and vegetable character having more fun than a little boy with a bag of potato chips.” The characters’ names are “Judy Fruity” and “Reggie Veggie,” in contrast with “Bag Boy,” the unhealthy foil. The targeted audience is black and Hispanic children enrolled in the federal Head Start program. With the federal government now seemingly inextricably intertwined with our health care cradle to grave, we should expect this to be the tip of the iceberg. More…
