Schiff's COVID Commission — Another Trump Inquisition
The House impeachment manager blames Trump for 50,000 American deaths.
“I don’t think [the House impeachment managers] had any idea how much damage [President Donald Trump] would go on to do in the months ahead. There are 50,000 Americans now who are dead in significant part because of his incompetence,” Rep. Adam Schiff recently complained. “I don’t think we would have ever anticipated that his brand of narcissism and his brand of incompetence, sometimes his brand of malevolence, would be so fatal to the American people.”
Schiff made his noxious comments the day after the Democrat-controlled House voted to approve an official inquisition into Trump’s handling of the coronavirus crisis. Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer is clamoring for a Senate version. Earlier this month, Schiff declared, “It’s clear we’ll need a bipartisan commission to ensure we’re better prepared for the next pandemic.” Translation — as we’ve previously warned: “It’s clear we need a partisan commission to hang this pandemic around Trump’s neck ahead of the 2020 election.”
Ironically, it was Schiff’s distracting impeachment that was sucking all the air out of the Beltway in January, and that contributed more to American deaths than anything the Trump administration did or didn’t do.
When House Speaker Nancy Pelosi originally proposed her next inquisition, Trump responded, “I want to remind everyone here in our nation’s capital, especially in Congress, that this is not the time for politics. Endless, partisan investigations have already done extraordinary damage to our country in recent years.” That’s putting it mildly — especially for Trump.
Speaking of Schiff, The Wall Street Journal editorial board recently took him to task for sitting on declassified transcripts from the collusion probe (Impeachment 1.0). “Mr. Schiff spent years shouting cover-up only to be exposed for making things up. Now that the evidence is ready for public release, he’s defying the unanimous vote of a bipartisan committee to make them public. What doesn’t Mr. Schiff want America to see?”
The simple answer is that Democrats don’t want Americans to see what desperate partisans they are. They failed to take down Trump with the Russia-collusion hoax (and now they’re covering up their failure). They failed to impeach him over the ridiculous Ukraine kerfuffle. But by golly they’re going to keep trying to destroy the president with a phony inquisition over COVID-19.
