Loudoun County Schools Impose ‘Transgender’ Code
The school board in the DC suburb mandates following gender “identity” rather than biology.
In a vote that was delayed a day due to the hundreds of parents who showed up to express their views, the Loudoun County School Board nevertheless voted 7-2 to mandate a pro-“transgender” policy for its northern Virginia public schools. At least for now, the Rainbow Mafia has triumphed over parents, children, and common sense.
In adopting the hard-left policy, Loudoun County schools will not require a student’s biology to be the determiner of any sex designation. As a result, the use of all sports, locker rooms, and bathrooms must be based entirely upon gender “identity.” Furthermore, all school faculty and staff are required to refer to students by their preferred pronouns.
Earlier this year, the controversy erupted when elementary school gym teacher Byron Cross expressed his principled opposition to the then-proposed “transgender” policy at a public school board meeting. He was subsequently suspended for daring to challenge these leftist know-it-alls. After a judge’s ruling, he was later reinstated; however, given this school board vote, the prospect of Cross remaining with the school seems unlikely.
Loudoun County has also been ground zero for parents rising up against the indoctrination of their children with the Marxist and anti-American Critical Race Theory. Indeed, CRT is the ideological cancer undergirding the authoritarian push for “transgender” acceptance, compliance, and celebration.
In the face of the Loudoun County School Board’s decision to promote leftist indoctrination over and against sound education, a brave elementary teacher, Laura Morris, stood up and gave an impassioned speech in which she tendered her resignation. Her words are a perfect rebuke to the Loudoun County School Board for its decision to put politics ahead of educating children.
Within the last year, I was told in one of my so-called equity trainings that white, Christian, able-bodied females currently have the power in our schools and that “this has to change.” Clearly, you’ve made your point. You no longer value me or many other teachers you’ve employed in this county.
So since my contract outlines the power that you have over my employment in Loudoun County Public Schools, I thought it necessary to resign in front of you. School Board, I quit. I quit your polices, I quit your trainings, and I quit being a cog in a machine that tells me to push highly politicized agendas on our most vulnerable constituents — the children.
We can only hope Loudoun County public schools experience a mass exodus of good teachers who reject the school board’s demand that they pump ideological garbage into their students. Likewise, there should be a mass exodus of students as rightly appalled parents pull their children from these increasingly dangerous environments that refuse to recognize the most fundamental truths of biology and human existence.
This cultural war is far from over. It’s a battle for the very foundation upon which this nation was established. Thankfully, there are a growing number of brave Americans like Morris who are willing to stand against the authoritarian Left — even when it costs them their jobs — because they prize Liberty and truth, and because they love America.
