Re: “Are the Soft-On-Crime Dems Waking Up?

“Unless prosecutors actually prosecute crimes — all crimes, including ‘minor’ violations of property rights — talk of putting more police on the streets is just window dressing. It’s obvious that the announcement that property crimes under $1,000 would not be prosecuted was a wide-open invitation to live by crime. Why should any ungodly person get an honest job unloading ships when he can with literal impunity go to the grocery store and steal the makings of steak dinners every day?” —Minnesota

“Leftists believe all are born good and bad behavior is caused by the environment. They believe babies screaming for attention or toddler temper tantrums are caused by parents’ failures. Leftist cannot imagine the baby or toddler might be exhibiting signs of inherent selfishness. Leftists value self-esteem more than self-discipline and fail to impart either. Leftists blame and punish the merited success of those who obey the laws for the failures and poverty of lawbreakers and get lawlessness.” —Missouri

Re: “Salvation Army at a Woke Crossroad

“For decades I have contributed to The Salvation Army. It doesn’t pay top executives outrageous salaries and actually provides visible, direct aid to the needy and homeless. SA’s drift toward CRT or anything that even faintly resembles race or racism should be canceled. I have never considered SA to be anything but a charitable organization to help those in need. Unfortunately, someone at the top seems to think the organization should get on the leftist bandwagon to which I strongly object. So I will withhold donations this year until it returns to what it has always done.” —Washington

“My wife and I began our annual ‘closet cleaning’ and ended up with three large bags of clothing donations. We normally give everything to The Salvation Army, but since it went ‘woke,’ we’re skipping SA and looking for local charities that help the elderly and/or veterans. Sorry, SA, but you know the saying, ‘Go woke, go broke.’ Better luck next year (if you come to your senses, that is).” —Texas

“Does the SA hierarchy really believe all those past millions of donated dollars were given (a) by white donors to be spent only on white needy people, or (b) by black persons because racist whites refuse to donate because their money might accidentally go to a black needy person?” —North Carolina

“If you go and watch the donations being dropped into one of SA’s kettles, you will see that they come disproportionately from the race it decided to insult. What did SA expect? Our family decided to discontinue our donations as the result of being called racist.” —Colorado

Re: “U.S. Military Now Punishing the Unvaxxed

“I noticed an interesting article in my most recent issue of ‘Proceedings’ from the U.S. Naval Institute. It would seem extended deployments, COVID restrictions, and poor asset reliability (just to name a few) are really taking a toll on an overtaxed military. Now the top brass wants to punish or discharge members who don’t want a vaccination. The services are going to hemorrhage a great deal of manpower in the coming months due to burnout, and then to put a vax mandate on them is going to tip the scales unfavorably, particularly with an all-volunteer force. As the author of the article pointed out, the ‘Can Do’ mantra is coming entirely from the top, and none from the lower echelons.” —Washington

Re: “The Medal of Honor: Cashe, Celiz, and Plumlee

“It is awesome to just meet a holder of our nation’s highest award for valor. We even have one here in Cabell County, West Virginia: Hershell Woodrow ‘Woody’ Williams. Woody won the medal for his heroic action back in 1945 on the Japanese island of Iwo Jima. It has been my honor to sit at the same dinner table with this awesome man!” —West Virginia
