Biden Suggests Midterms Will Be Illegitimate
Declaring an election to be rigged nine months before it takes place is a disgraceful act of desperation.
The Great Shellacking is still well off in the distance, but that hasn’t stopped Joe Biden and his fellow Democrats from getting a head start on crying Foul!
Sure, it’s unbecoming of his office, but when has that ever stopped him? It certainly didn’t keep him from repeatedly smearing modest voting reform legislation as “Jim Crow 2.0.” Or from comparing opponents of the Democrats’ twin voting fraud bills to Bull Connor and other (Democrat) segregationists. And, sure, it threatens the legitimacy of our electoral process, but what’s a staggeringly unpopular guy to do? Biden’s presidency and his polling numbers are in the toilet, and his colleagues now realize that they’re circling the bowl with him. Thus, they’ve been reduced to casting doubt on a midterm election more than nine months before the first vote has been cast.
During a rare news conference on Wednesday, as Democrats gnashed their teeth about proposed “voting rights” legislation that they knew would never get past the Senate, Biden was asked whether he thought the 2022 midterms would be legitimate.
“I’m not going to say it’s going to be legit,” Biden said disgracefully. “The increase and the prospect of being illegitimate is in direct proportion to us not being able to get these reforms passed.”
Got that? Give us a better chance to cheat, or we’ll declare the results illegitimate.
Clean up on aisle six! came the cries from Biden’s handlers, and White House paid liar Press Secretary Jen Psaki went quickly to social media with the mop and bucket. “He was not casting doubt on the legitimacy of the 2022 election,” she posted. “He was making the opposite point: In 2020, a record number of voters turned out in the face of a pandemic, and election officials made sure they could vote and have those votes counted.”
So Psaki cleaned up Biden’s mess, but who’s responsible for cleaning up after Psaki?
Her claim that “a record number of voters turned out in the face of a pandemic” is an out-and-out lie and a variation on the theme her boss played when he said during his January 6 screed that it was “the God’s honest truth” that “over 150 million Americans went to the polls and voted that day.”
The truth is that fewer than 60 million Americans actually “went to the polls” on Election Day 2020. That’s nowhere near a record. The overwhelming majority of the votes — more than 100 million of them — came through the mail. What could go wrong, right? And that’s what this fight is all about: bulk-mail ballot fraud and all that it entails.
Moreover, as the Wall Street Journal editorial board points out, Biden’s rhetoric about “Jim Crow 2.0” last week in Georgia was even more damning: “The goal of the former president and his allies is to disenfranchise anyone who votes against them,” he said. “The facts won’t matter. Your vote won’t matter. They’ll just decide what they want and then do it. That’s the kind of power you see in totalitarian states, not in democracies.”
By the way, we seem to recall the Democrats casting aspersions on that same Donald J. Trump for having questioned the legitimacy of a recent election. And Democrats never accepted the legitimacy of George W. Bush’s two-term presidency, for that matter. He was “selected, not elected,” remember?
To be fair, Trump also sowed doubt about the 2020 election in advance of it, but not nine months in advance. And he kept his opprobrium mostly in check until after the rigged election before declaring it rigged.
Which proves once again that Democrats reflexively blame others for that which they themselves are guilty of.
