A four-time deported illegal alien from Mexico was recently arrest for vandalizing Union Station in Washington, DC. Worse, he defaced it with spray-painted Nazi swastikas. After his arrest, local police learned of Geraldo Pando’s illegal status as well as his 15-year-long criminal history. The racist “hate crime” — as it would have been reported by the mainstream media had Pando been white — has gone nearly unreported.

However, the even bigger scandal is the fact that U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement claims it can’t lay a finger on Pando thanks to the DC Council having declared the nation’s capital a “sanctuary city.” As an email from ICE explained, “ICE has not issued a detainer on Pando because the District of Columbia is a non-cooperative jurisdiction and the Washington D.C. jail is barred from honoring ICE detainers due to a federal District Court ruling, and city ordinance.”

Thus, Pando, a criminal illegal alien and evidently an anti-Semite to boot, has become deportation-proof so long as he stays within a “sanctuary city.”

However, the Biden administration’s newly developed guidelines are just as much if not more responsible for this travesty of justice. Pando cannot be arrested by ICE without agents obtaining special permission to do so because, according to the new standards, he is not deemed a national security threat.

Meanwhile, even if ICE had picked up Pando, it’s not as if he would be leaving the States anytime soon. Despite the fact that the number of illegal aliens caught crossing the border has been setting all-time record highs, the number of illegal aliens deported has steadily decreased. The Washington Free Beacon reports that ICE “deported just 55,590 illegal immigrants in 2021,” a number that represents “a 70 percent decrease from 2020, when ICE deported 185,884.” And that number was down from the year prior when “ICE deported 267,258 migrants.”

In other words, the Biden administration is deporting just over 150 illegal aliens a day, a mere drop in the bucket compared to the thousands illegally crossing daily.

But this clearly abysmal border enforcement record is actually the Democrats’ agenda working out precisely as conceived. This is exactly what they want. As Jessica Vaughan, director of policy studies at the Center for Immigration Studies, contends: “For the Left, these policies are practically a fantasy come true. The Democrats think that, in the long run, these new arrivals will not only stock certain congressional districts with fresh bodies, but also become loyal Democrat voters.”

This also explains the Democrats’ obsessions with “voting reform,” specifically regarding their desire to get rid of voter ID laws. While they falsely claim that voter ID laws are a mechanism for Republicans to suppress the minority vote, specifically the black vote as Biden ridiculously harkens to Jim Crow, the real target group is not blacks at all. As everyone knows, black Americans have little trouble getting IDs. The really target group are illegal aliens. The blatant attempt to eliminate any distinction between legal and illegal immigrations is a purposeful effort to grant de facto citizenship status without any action on the part of Congress. Look no further than New York City and its recent decision to allow all city residents to vote irrespective of their citizenship status.

Back to Pando, whose racist expressions would have the Democrats demanding the creation of an inquisition committee to deal with the dangerous threat of domestic terrorism had he been a white American citizen. Pando not only doesn’t fit the narrative, he exposes the dangerous hypocrisy of the Left’s “sanctuary” policies. The truth is that it’s not about concern over “hate crimes” or racism; rather, it’s all about Democrats working to grow their own power. If it sells their narrative, they will shout it to the hilltops. But if it doesn’t, they’ll act like it never happened. And they’re succeeding.
