Friday Executive News Summary

Hillary slams Durham “conspiracy theories,” another government shutdown averted, 19 Austin cops indicted, and more.

Top of the Fold

  • Hillary slams Durham “conspiracy theories”: Hillary Clinton is nothing if not consistent, effectively trotting out her infamous deflection from the ‘90s regarding the latest John Durham revelations. She told New York Democrats yesterday, “We can’t get distracted by the latest … right-wing lie.” She of course blamed Donald Trump: “It’s funny. The more trouble Trump gets into the wilder the charges and conspiracy theories about me seem to get.” Then she ramped up the victim status, saying that Fox News is “getting awfully close to actual malice in their attacks.” Ask Sarah Palin how that works out in court.

  • Another government shutdown averted: Now that our nation is $30 trillion in debt, Congress is finally starting to take our fiscal health seriously. Just kidding! Politicians are doing what they always do — kicking the can down the road a bit. Ahead of tonight’s deadline for a government shutdown, the Senate yesterday passed a stopgap measure to fund the government for a whole three weeks until March 11. It goes to Joe Biden’s desk for his signature today. Rushing to the nearest microphone, Chuck Schumer declared, “We have kept the government open.” What, does he want a medal?

  • Nineteen Austin cops indicted: Amidst a wave of rising crime in Texas’s capital, the Austin American-Statesman reports, “A state grand jury has indicted 19 Austin police officers related to allegations of excessive force during the May 2020 George Floyd protests.” The cops were attacked by “mostly peaceful protesters” and used bean bag projectiles to fight back; several protesters suffered serious injuries. District Attorney Jose Garza, who brought the charges, wouldn’t provide information on any indictments against protesters. In news from October that we’re sure is totally unrelated, George Soros spent $1 million on “police reform” in Austin, and Garza is one of many DAs across the country reportedly on the receiving end of Soros funding.
