Biden Blames Voters for His Incompetence

The president and leader of the Democrats exhorts voters by insinuating that they are lazy.

As Democrats are staring at the growing potential for a midterm bloodbath come November — and most of it thanks to Joe Biden’s abysmal leadership, or rather the abysmal leadership of his handlers — Biden recently hit the campaign trail to gin up support. His first stop was the hard-left city of Portland, Oregon, where he sought to sell disillusioned Democrats on his latest big government spending plan, the $1.2 trillion “roads and bridges” infrastructure spending spree, all while berating the voters themselves.

Speaking at an Air National Guard base, Biden implored the crowd to look ahead: “Stop feeling sorry for yourselves, get the hell up, and take this country back.” But the real question is, take it back from whom? Don’t Democrats control both the executive and legislative branches? Don’t they control education, the media, Big Tech, and entertainment?

In any case, what increasingly matters to a majority of Americans, according to recent polling, is Biden’s runaway inflation. Inflation plagues American budgets precisely because of the federal government’s record spending — and here Biden is proposing even more spending.

Making matters worse is the fact that his own administration is busy working to undermine the very infrastructure development message that Biden is preaching, using the National Environmental Policy Act to create a litany of new regulations that further increase the money and time required for any major construction project.

Voters aren’t the Democrats’ problem; Biden is. The record voters are faced with is exactly why Democrats are in trouble. And Democrats’ record is why voters are in trouble. Chastising them for supposedly failing “to get up and take their country back” is ironically the exact opposite of what many voters have been doing. Voters in Virginia, for example, got up and took their state back by electing Governor Glenn Youngkin.

The most popular state governors are Republicans in states like Florida and Texas. Ron DeSantis and Greg Abbott have stood up for their constituents’ constitutional rights, facing off against Biden as he afflicts the country with needlessly divisive COVID vaccine and masking mandates, among other things.

However, as Mark Alexander observes, “There are six months between now and the much-talked-about midterm elections, and a LOT can happen in those months.” But he notes Biden’s abject failures will be difficult to overcome. “Biden and his Democrat Party are thoroughly mired down in a long list of Demo dung, including: Surging inflation; rising energy prices; an epidemic of violent crime; millions of illegal immigrants flooding the country as a result of Biden’s reckless open-border policy; Biden’s corrupt ChiCom family business; his reinvigoration of the Red China threat, and now, after Biden’s deadly surrender and retreat from Afghanistan, a deadly war in Ukraine on NATO’s doorstep.”

Biden is essentially blasting his voter base as lazy — a voter base stinging from his policy agenda that has left them poorer and disillusioned about the future. But Biden’s voters are responsible for putting him in office. Perhaps Biden is aimlessly flailing about with little answer to a growing red wave that is threatening to not only sweep congressional Democrats out of power but further widen cracks forming within the Party.

Then again, such a strategy is hardly new for prominent Democrats. Hillary Clinton infamously blamed her loss on white women voters who just voted how their husbands or boyfriends told them to vote. Michelle Obama blamed black voters and young voters who didn’t vote for allowing Donald Trump’s victory. Barack Obama blamed Hispanic voters for not caring enough about Trump’s supposed racism.

It’s easy to say that blaming voters isn’t a winning message, but Basement Joe Biden got 81 million* votes in the 2020 election after all this haranguing from other Democrats. Maybe that’s why he’s grabbing the rhetorical whip now.
