Border agents “cleared” but still face discipline: “There is no evidence that [agents] involved in this incident struck, intentionally or otherwise, any migrant with their reins,” U.S. Customs and Border Protection concluded following an extensive investigation into an incident last year in which Border Patrol agents on horseback attempted to address a massive number of Haitian migrants who were crossing the U.S. border into Texas. At the time of the incident, Joe Biden erroneously claimed that the migrants had been “strapped” by the border agents and promised that “those people will pay.” Since the incident last September, the agents involved have been relegated to desk duty, where they remain, even after having been cleared of wrongdoing. Yet in an apparent effort to justify the Left’s condemnation despite the results of the investigation, Customs and Border Protection Commissioner Chris Magnus blasted the Border Patrol, claiming that agents showed “discrimination” and “intolerance” and that some of their conduct was “unprofessional and deeply offensive.” Meanwhile, speaking of deeply offensive, the Department of Homeland Security has a new migrant policy that effectively acts as a backdoor pathway to citizenship, as those migrants who entered the U.S. illegally but have been granted a temporary protected status will be allowed to travel outside the country and will be judged as “inspected” upon return. Put simply, it’s backdoor amnesty, which former U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services director Ken Cuccinelli called “another brutal stomping of the rule of law.”
Monticello is going woke: The famed residence of America’s third president in Charlottesville, Virginia, has fallen to “wokeness” — the same leftist mind disease that has impacted most of our nation’s institutions of higher learning. The nonprofit that owns Thomas Jefferson’s estate, which is also a national monument, has pushed a new emphasis to supposedly balance the historical record, though, not surprisingly, it does nothing of the sort. Recent visitor Jeffery Tucker, founder of the Brownstone Institute, observed that Monticello’s new emphasis “has the feel of propaganda and manipulation.” He further noted that the tour failed to build a sense of admiration for the man who penned the Declaration of Independence and helped found the freest nation in history. Instead, “People on my tour seemed sad and demoralized.” Another recent visitor observed, “The tour guides play ‘besmirchment derby,’ never missing a chance to defame this brilliant, complex man.” Yet another visitor said that “half of the comments on Jefferson were critical,” so much so that “even my 11-year-old daughter noticed the bias.” A Monticello spokeswoman, Jenn Lyon, defended the blatant sullying of Jefferson by stating, “Our goal is to present an honest, inclusive history of Monticello in all its aspects as well as Jefferson’s contributions to the founding of the country.” Evidently, “honest” and “inclusive” means smearing Jefferson’s reputation and focusing an inordinate amount of the tour’s exhibits on the evils of slavery and woke leftist complaints. For example, one painting — “a moment of silence” — focuses on Monticello’s grounds once being the land of Native Americans. The wokeness only gets worse in the gift shop, where a dark-skinned, faceless painting is prominently displayed along with a range of books promoting critical race theory. In other words, Monticello is removing the nuance of history and putting in its place woke-centric pseudo-history.
Kavanaugh chased out of a DC restaurant: U.S. Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh, who recently survived an assassination attempt, was forced to leave a Washington, DC, restaurant after a group of leftist protesters descended on the establishment. Kavanaugh exited the restaurant with his security detail through a back exit after a group known as ShutDownDC showed up and demanded that the manager kick out the justice. Following the incident, leftists celebrated their actions by posting on social media: “We hear Kavanaugh snuck out the back with his security detail. Morton’s should be ashamed for welcoming a man who so clearly hates women.” The restaurant issued a statement condemning the actions of the protesters: “Politics, regardless of your side or views, should not trample the freedom at play of the right to congregate and eat dinner. There is a time and place for everything. Disturbing the dinner of all of our customers was an act of selfishness and void of decency.” According to a report, Kavanaugh “did not hear or see the protestors and ate a full meal but left before desert.” Sadly but unsurprisingly, Leftmedia pundits made light of the incident by mocking Kavanaugh and even seeking to justify the harassment. MSNBC contributor Elie Mystal wrote on Twitter, “I really can’t get over the fact that a right was taken away from half the country … and about 75% of the country thinks that the real problem are the 25% of us who are angry about it and are using whatever voices we have to protest and not comply with that.” This type of behavior and the defense of it is thanks to the Left’s continued efforts to politicize the Court.
