The Biden administration continues to show its absolute contempt for the U.S. Supreme Court. Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg has trotted out a newly proposed rule requiring states to regulate CO₂ road emissions. Clearly, Biden and company have no respect for the High Court, which just ruled in West Virginia v. EPA that only Congress can enact such sweeping regulations.

However, for the Left, words exist to be redefined in a manner that suits its own political agenda. For example, Buttigieg pointed to a provision in the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) law as having granted the federal agency power to regulate “environmental sustainability,” which of course he reinterpreted to mean the regulation of that non-pollutant gas CO₂.

While CO₂ may indeed be a naturally occurring gas that has an impact on global temperatures, it is pure conflation to suggest it is a road pollution that the FHWA is authorized to regulate. The fact of the matter is that it is not and never was the intention of Congress to grant the FHWA the power to regulate greenhouse gases, no matter what the Biden administration may assert.

Buttigieg’s proposed rule is aimed at forcing the states into adopting a new vehicle emissions regulation that would be almost impossible to monitor. How would inspectors know from which state the CO₂ in the atmosphere originated? This is a ploy to coerce states with fewer electric vehicles to adopt tax incentives to increase EV sales. It’s the federal government, not the free market, picking winners and losers.

Transformation within a free society comes as people are freely won over to positions that prove themselves over time to be the most beneficial to society. The problem is that leftists don’t believe in making the argument, nor do they believe in the republican process delineated in the Constitution, which is intentionally slow and often stymied. Shouting “climate crisis” is not justification for throwing out the Constitution, especially given the fact that nearly every climate catastrophe prediction raised over the past 40 years has failed to materialize.

While the planet adapts to the incrementally changing climate, ecofascists have completely lost patience and have become more shrill and crazed. Their ultimate aim has never really been about the climate at all. It’s about imposing a globalist system in which the elites rule and individual rights are severely limited for the “greater good” — i.e., the sensibilities of the globalist elites.
