White Lives Matter
Kanye West and Candace Owens send the Internet into a tizzy for wearing provocative T-shirts at Kanye’s Paris fashion show.
Kanye West, now known as “Ye,” is an eccentric and influential American cultural icon. He teamed up with conservative political pundit Candace Owens to open up his Paris fashion show and provoke the world by wearing “White Lives Matter” T-shirts.
Kanye has gone through a journey these past few years. He has had a spiritual conversion, even releasing an album called “Jesus Is King.” He has become very vocally conservative, even running for president. He wore a MAGA hat and was supportive of former President Donald Trump. All this was written off by the Left, which called him crazy and pointed to his mental illness to explain away his supposedly erratic behavior. But as many political commentators have pointed out, his bold moves cause the Left to show its true colors.
Why it matters:
First and foremost, Kanye and Candace’s statement matters because Black Lives Matter (BLM) doesn’t give a fig for black lives. Just ask all the black families that were devastated by the riots during the 2020 summer of rage. BLM is also a well-documented scam whose founder, Patrisse Cullors, had to resign in infamy due to allegations of money mismanagement.
Kanye could have chosen the safer phrase “All Lives Matter” (though that’s not all that much safer; more on that later), but he chose “White Lives Matter.” Why? Because it’s diametrically opposed to the insane rhetoric the BLM movement espouses. It was a direct attack.
It was for black people:
Candace and Kanye did this for black people. They did this to disrupt the leftist and BLM narrative that seeks to subjugate black Americans and ignore the root of the problems affecting them today.
Candace puts it beautifully in her piece about it: “What critics don’t understand is that Kanye West didn’t put a ‘White Lives Matter’ t-shirt on first. The Left and supporters of ‘Black Lives Matter’ did. They did so by ignoring what ‘Black Lives Matter’ would actually mean if it were applied to the real world.”
What would actually caring about the lives of black Americans really look like? Let’s start with crime, defunding the police, and high incarceration rates.
If leftists cared about black lives, they would care that most black people are killed by other black people. Forty percent of murders were committed by black Americans in 2019; 54% of victims were black. This was pre-pandemic and pre-BLM riots, so those numbers are going to be much larger for 2020.
Defunding the police for the sake of the few cases of “unarmed” killing by the police does not help black communities. Less law enforcement does not mean less crime; it means more crime because there is no one to come and put a stop to it.
Leftists also hurl the ridiculously high incarceration rates of black men and point to racism as the cause. Unfortunately for them, the truth is that they helped create this toxic culture by encouraging fatherlessness, crime, ignorance, and calling things like achievement and striving for better a “white” attribute.
If leftists and BLM cared about black lives, they would not encourage black women to get abortions. As Candace points out, “Abortion in America has contributed to the greatest decline in black population since the first black slaves arrived.” Planned Parenthoods are strategically placed within walking distance of neighborhoods with a larger black or Hispanic population. Every abortion a black mother goes through with is a black life lost, and since 1973 that number is 20 million.
If leftists and BLM cared about black lives, they would care about the diverse and intelligent voices of conservative black people. Instead, they heap insults upon them. Larry Elder, who was running to replace California Governor Gavin Newsom, was actually the victim of a racist hate crime and no one lifted a finger. Leftists acted like he deserved it because he was the “black face of white supremacy.” Justice Clarence Thomas is one of the most conservative voices on the Supreme Court. He is called an Uncle Tom. Candace Owens used to be a fervent Democrat and, praise God, her eyes have been opened to the Left’s hypocrisy and lies. Her audacity in joining Kanye in this “White Lives Matter” statement has sent leftists on Twitter into meltdown mode. The message from leftists and BLM to black people who dare to think for themselves is clear: Your life does’t matter unless you agree with us.
Kanye and Candace did this to shine a spotlight on the hypocrisy and show black America they don’t have to believe the lies of the Left anymore.
For white people:
White people have been told by leftists (of all races and creeds) and BLM to “check their privilege.” White people have simultaneously been told that their lives don’t need to be affirmed because the country was built to glorify whiteness and that saying “white lives matter” or even “all lives matter” is dangerous and disgusting. In other words, white people don’t need affirmation; also, they’re disgusting and evil. BLM and critical race theory preach that white people’s racism is so innate that there is no redemption for them. The words “white lives matter” on a shirt worn by two black people are words white people didn’t know they needed to hear.
Kanye and Candace wore these shirts to remind white people their lives matter too.
For the truth that all lives matter:
As mentioned above, even expressing the Christian principle that all lives matter was demonized by the Left. A perfect example of a person who has suffered greatly for expressing this very reasonable opinion is Grant Napear. In 2020, Napear — who was an announcer for the NBA’s Sacramento Kings since 1988 — was fired for tweeting, “ALL LIVES MATTER…EVERY SINGLE ONE.” He is currently suing his former boss for wrongful termination. Napear has never apologized for his statement and truly believes what he tweeted.
Kanye and Candace wore these shirts to remind the world we are all God’s children.
Kanye posted a reel on his social media account right after the fashion show, saying: “Everyone knows that Black Lives Matter was a scam. Now it’s over, you’re welcome.”
Let’s hope you’re right, Kanye. Thank you, and thank you Candace, for having the courage to kick the hornets nest.
