Obama & The Crazies

At a Las Vegas conference [Monday] night, President Obama launched into another demeaning attack against his domestic political opponents. Obama told the audience that he was back from his summer vacation feeling “a little feisty” and ready to fight “the crazies” who oppose his agenda. Really?

Given history, it is crazy to believe that a regime like Iran’s, which is committed to a second Holocaust, will be restrained by words on a piece of paper.

It is crazy to think that Cuba, Russia and other enemies can be charmed into friends. It is crazy to believe you can continue to spend trillions of dollars more than you bring in and not face economic collapse.

It is crazy to believe that if someone thinks marriage is between one man and a woman, they are a bigot. It is crazy to think it is okay to butcher baby parts for profit. I could go on.

But when has Mr. Obama ever referred to the mullahs in Tehran as “crazies”? When has he called Castro or Putin crazy? It is sad to see the president once again directing more vitriol toward his political opponents in Washington than the avowed enemies of the United States.

Cancel The Dinner

Chinese President Xi Jinping is coming to Washington next month for a state visit. Part of that trip will involve an official state dinner at the White House.

If we had a president who understood that the world’s thugs are constantly taking the measure of America’s strength, or lack thereof, he would either cancel the invitation or send a very clear message about how he handled the visit.

For example, Obama could bring the Chinese leader in through the back door, past the White House trash, the same way he did to the Dali Lama. He could not provide a state dinner, leave Xi and go upstairs to have dinner with his family like he reportedly did to Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu. He could cancel the state visit entirely.

Obama could and should do these things because China is pressing us on multiple fronts. Beijing is responsible for massive cyberattacks against the government. China is constantly probing industrial centers and the computers running our infrastructure.

China is aggressively expanding its territory in the South China Sea, threatening other Asian nations and doing next to nothing to rein in its Stalinist ally, North Korea. A formal state visit under these circumstances sends all the wrong messages to China and to our allies.

The Left Targets The Truth

There were big demonstrations outside of Planned Parenthood facilities all over the country this weekend. The protests were organized in response to recent videos exposing Planned Parenthood’s profiteering from the sale of aborted baby body parts. These shocking revelations have revitalized the pro-life movement, while Planned Parenthood is in damage control mode.

But now the left is going on the attack. Faced with evidence of what can only be described as atrocities, liberals in Congress announced last week that they are going to investigate … the group that exposed the atrocities.

The attorney general of California has also launched an investigation, not into Planned Parenthood’s practices, but whether the videos are potential violations of state law.

This is typical of the left’s tactics. Rather than recognize reality, it wants to shut down debate.
