Furor has arisen over President-elect Donald Trump’s charges that our intelligence agencies are politicized. Spare us the outrage. For decades, directors of intelligence agencies have often quite inappropriately massaged their assessments to fit administration agendas.

Paris Summit a Nasty Peace of Work
President Obama has less than 72 hours left as the leader of the free world — and he’s using every single one of them to remind Americans why they made the right decision in November. The Cornwall Alliance for the Stewardship of Creation today released an open letter to the U.S. Senate Environment and Public Works Committee supporting the nomination of Oklahoma Attorney General Scott Pruitt to head the federal Environmental Protection Agency. Pruitt’s confirmation hearing is scheduled for Wednesday, January 18, 2017.
Trump’s First Week
Donald Trump will be busy Friday. He and Mike Pence have promised, Mother Jones magazine points out, that on Trump’s first day in office he will repeal Obamacare, end the “war on coal,” expel illegal immigrants, begin construction of a “beautiful Southern border wall,” fix the Department of Veterans Affairs, come up with a plan to stop ISIS, get rid of “gun-free zones,” “start taking care of our ... military,” withdraw from the TPP trade agreement, cut regulations and designate China a currency manipulator.

This week, Rep. John Lewis, D-Ga., accused President-elect Donald Trump of being an illegitimate president. He said: “I think the Russians participated in helping this man get elected. And they helped destroy the candidacy of Hillary Clinton. ... When you see something that is not right, not fair, not just, you have a moral obligation to do something.”

No doubt you saw the headlines. Rep. John Lewis (D-GA) and President-elect Trump were trading sharp words. It all started late Friday when Lewis said, “I don’t see this President-elect as a legitimate president. I think the Russians participated in helping this man get elected.”
King Leered in Left’s Legacy
If Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. were alive to see his monument in Washington, D.C., it would probably give him great pride to see his likeness standing at the foot of the Tidal Basin, facing the Jefferson Memorial. No two men could be more perfectly situated than our nation’s visionary on religious liberty and the man who used that freedom to champion a revolution of human dignity. Long before his memorial looked toward Jefferson, Dr. King lived his life in line with the democratic ideals of the third president. They were two great leaders, living in two very different times — but their dreams were both firmly rooted in the freedom of faith. So it’s somewhat fitting that this year we celebrate Religious Freedom Day on the same date we remember one of the most influential ministers in American history.
Ben Carson: Role Model
During his Senate confirmation hearing, Dr. Ben Carson, secretary of Housing and Urban Development-designate, told a story. He said his mother was a domestic who cleaned beautiful homes. One day she asked him if he would rather live in those nice houses or the house in which he and his brother lived in Detroit. She told him that only he could decide the type of home he would eventually live in by how much he studied in school and the choices he made for his life.
