Time for Term Limits
Back to the future -- or something like that. The last time Americans got wound up about the assorted misfeasances and incompetencies of the U.S. Congress, the national conversation opened itself to the possibility of term limits for the members. That's to say, no member could serve more than "X" number of consecutive terms. On completing that sacrosanct number, the member would remove from his office all photos, plaques and testaments to his indispensability. He would suddenly become dispensable -- another way of saying human.

WMDs in Your BVDs
Liberals like to lay the blame for Islamic terrorism on one of two causes; namely, the poverty in most Muslim nations or American foreign policy. Sometimes, just for variety, they’ll mention both items. And, as usual, they’re dead wrong on both counts. If the cause was actually poverty, you wouldn’t find world-wide terrorism funded by Saudi Arabia, and waged by such wealthy individuals as Osama bin Laden and young Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab. Nor should we forget the various Islamic doctors in London and Fort Hood’s Major Hasan, none of whom were charity cases.

Obama at War with al-Qaida
In the days that followed a foiled attempt to blow up Northwest Flight 253, the Obama White House clearly thought that it could bluff its way past the near disaster. Two days after the event, Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano contended that "the system worked." The next day, in prepared remarks, President Obama referred to suspect Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab as an "isolated extremist" -- despite his apparent ties to al-Qaida in Yemen. Later, Obama counterterrorism adviser John Brennan asserted that there was "no smoking gun" that should have prevented Abdulmutallab's entry into America -- when everyone knew his father went to a U.S. Embassy in Nigeria to warn officials about his son's radicalization.

It's Freezing: Must Be Global Warming
Great swaths of Britain are buried under more than a foot of snow as the country shivers through the coldest winter since 1981. Airports have been shut down, trains have been canceled, and the army had to be called out to rescue more than 1,000 motorists stranded in Hampshire. In Germany, most of which is also blanketed in white, temperatures have dipped to record lows of -7.6 F degrees. In Norway, reports the AP, the thermometer read -42 F degrees Jan. 5, the coldest reading since 1987.
