2015 Will be the 3rd Warmest Year in the Satellite Record
Way back in June, John Christy and I called 2015 as being the warmest year on record … *in the surface thermometer data*. Given the strong El Niño in progress, on top of the official thermometer data warming trend, this seemed pretty obvious. Of course, everyone has their opinions regarding how good the thermometer temperature trends are, with periodic adjustments that almost always make the present warmer or the past colder.

President Obama is over there in Paris where the blood of 130 innocents slaughtered by Islamic extremists last month is barely dry. He's on a continent where millions of people and their governments are on edge, waiting for the next cafe to be sprayed with machine gun bullets. So what great presidential thing does he do? President Barack Obama has expressed an apocalyptic vision he suggests other reasonable people must embrace. On Monday, in Paris, he said he foresees: "Submerged countries. Abandoned cities. Fields that no longer grow." And also: "Political disruptions that trigger new conflict, and even more floods of desperate peoples seeking the sanctuary of nations not their own." Climate change, he argues, threatens to cause these problems. Therefore, at the international climate change conference, he repeated his call for an international agreement that seeks to curb global carbon emissions from human activities.

Whenever we quote the alarmists using the term that way, we should follow it with [sic:; actually carbon dioxide, an odorless, colorless, nontoxic gas essential to plant photosynthesis and animal respiration] the first time, and [sic; actually carbon dioxide] every following time in the same article. Many climate scientists argue that we need to mitigate global warming because otherwise it will be the poor who will be hurt the most. Apparently these scientists do not understand their own models. Projections from climate models are based on the rates of poverty reduction, with the highest ('worst') temperature projections resulting when the poorest people in the world increase their incomes from $246 (measured in constant 1990 USD) to $49,000 per year (approximately equal to U.S. GDP per capita in 2014) by the end of the 21st century.
