Of all the horrific shootings this country has suffered these past few years, [Wednesday's] tragedy at San Bernardino may have been the most significant. Not because it took more lives than others, or even because of the gunmen's potential motives. No, Wednesday's tragedy was more stunning because it prompted an even fiercer attack — on faith. Instead of turning to one another for strength in crisis, Americans turned *on* each other.

Remote controls were surely tossed across America when CNN legal analyst Casey Jordan guessed that the Muslim shooter was "going into this conference room where there was a holiday party, which may have been offensive to him." Ah, religion.

In the aftermath of the mass shooting in San Bernardino, California, which left 14 people dead and at least 20 wounded, the FBI, most of the media and local law enforcement are warning us not to jump to any conclusions. Two weeks ago, a man began firing shots in a parking lot in Colorado Springs. He moved into a Planned Parenthood facility. Eventually captured, it turns out the man is a lunatic. He lived in a trailer with no running water or electricity. He had a history of violent behavior and crazy theories about the world. But according to the American political left, the man was clearly a Christian pro-life activist.

The Abuse of Colorado Springs
The murderous rampage at a Colorado Springs, Colorado, Planned Parenthood clinic had barely ended before the left began using it to try to shut down the abortion debate. The shooting was an act of terrorism directed against women's "health-care services," and incited by the inflammatory rhetoric around video exposes of Planned Parenthood. The triple murder had been nearly inevitable given, in the words of Planned Parenthood President Cecile Richards, the "toxic" environment created by "hateful rhetoric."

Planned Parenthood has always been a grim place, but last Friday, its Colorado clinic was the scene of different kind of tragedy. In a senseless shooting, one disgruntled man took the lives of three innocent people and wounded several more in a terrible atrocity that cast a somber shadow over the holiday. Regardless of what the gunman's motives may be (and the media has suggested several), we strongly condemned this violence. All of us at the Family Research Council join with the pro-life movement in praying for the injured officers and families who lost loved ones.

They're growing. So he's now in the crosshairs. The "news" networks have spent several days manufacturing outrage over Carson, saying that if he were in a mass-shooting situation, he would want to fight back. "I would not just stand there and let him shoot me."

Regarding last week's mass murder in Oregon, what is there to say that is new? There was a day in America when such an atrocity was almost unheard of. There were family feuds, mafia murders, and I guess what were called juvenile delinquent murders, though they were comparatively rare and for the most part ignored.

Last week, in the aftermath of the mass shooting at Umpqua Community College in Oregon, President Barack Obama took to the microphones to deride anyone who did not agree with his gun control agenda. Stating that it was only good and right to "politicize" the Oregon shooting, Obama stated, "This is a political choice that we make to allow this to happen every few months in America. We collectively are answerable to those families, who lose their loved ones, because of our inaction." Obama then called for "modest" gun regulations, without specifying the nature of those "modest" gun regulations.
The Problem Isn't Guns or White Men
The media act as if they're performing a public service by refusing to release details about the perpetrator of the recent mass shooting at a community college in Oregon. But we were given plenty of information about Dylan Roof, Adam Lanza, James Holmes and Jared Loughner. Now, quick: Name the mass shooters at the Chattanooga military recruitment center; the Washington Navy Yard; the high school in Washington state; Fort Hood (the second time) and the Christian college in California. All those shootings also occurred during the last three years.
