[Wednesday] night's Republican presidential debate — a three-hour marathon with 11 candidates — was quite a show. Preliminary numbers suggest that 20 million people tuned in. Prior to last night, CNN's highest rated presidential primary debate featured Obama and Clinton battling it out in January 2008 with just over 8 million viewers. That tells you something. There is a lot of energy among conservatives and interest in the GOP candidates. How much is due to Donald Trump's presence on the stage?
Senate Continues Arms Wrestling
Could America be facing another 9/11? Lawmakers trying to stop President Obama's Iranian deal think so. With two procedural votes in the win column for the president, conservatives are looking through every weapon in their arsenal to keep one of the most dangerous Middle East regimes from using theirs on innocent Americans. Although the administration is still withholding information on the agreement's side deals, what Congress does know is enough to scare anyone.
Kerry's Credibility, Left-Wing Activist Kills Cop, Muslim Migration
As you know, Secretary of State John Kerry was our chief appeaser — Whoops! I mean negotiator — during the Iranian nuclear talks. We and other critics of the deal believe Kerry was fleeced by his Iranian counterparts. During the talks, Kerry made a number of bizarre comments. For example, he denied that Iran really intends to destroy Israel. He recently told a reporter that Hezbollah has tens of thousands of rockets but it hasn't used them. Here is further evidence of his naivete. Shortly after the Iranian deal, Kerry spoke with Russian leaders and announced that the Russians were committed to resolving problems in Syria.
The Media's Weird Iran 'Victory' Bandwagon
On Sept. 11, The New York Times demonstrated once again the media's peculiar sense of patriotism. The 9/11 attacks were not remembered at all on the front page. Instead, the top-right headline in capital letters read "DEMOCRATS HAND VICTORY TO OBAMA ON PACT WITH IRAN." The House of Representatives voted against it. The Senate voted against it. The American people are overwhelmingly against it. None of that mattered.
Haley's Comment: Gov. Fires Back at Planned Parenthood
Not everyone agrees with Rep. Steve Cohen (D-Tenn.) that Planned Parenthood is "one of the finest organizations in America!" Just ask Governor Nicki Haley (R-S.C.). Like several other states, South Carolina was so appalled by the group's black market for baby parts that it launched its own internal investigation of Cecile Richards's group. What it found was nothing short of shocking. According to the state government's report, the President's favorite abortion group exhibits the same disregard for laws that it does for lives. The state's Department of Health and Environmental Control [DHEC] discovered so much wrongdoing that it had to temporarily shut down operations.
The Iran Deal Bait-and-Switch
Barack Obama has never made a secret of his determination to reach a deal with Iran regarding its nuclear program. Very early in his run for the White House, he announced that he was prepared to meet, without preconditions, with the rulers of Iran and other hostile regimes. "I think it is a disgrace that we have not spoken to them," he said during a 2007 debate with Hillary Clinton. As president, Obama's outreach to Tehran began on Day 1. "We will extend a hand," he promised in his inaugural address, "if you are willing to unclench your fist." By 2011, he had dispatched then-Senator John Kerry to open a secret dialogue with Iran.
The Iran Charade on Capitol Hill
Congress is finally having its say on the Iran deal. It will be an elaborate charade, however, because, having first gone to the U.N., President Obama has largely drained congressional action of relevance. At the Security Council, he pushed through a resolution ratifying the deal, thus officially committing the United States as a nation to its implementation — in advance of any congressional action. The resolution abolishes the entire legal framework, built over a decade, underlying the international sanctions against Iran. A few months from now, they will be gone. The script is already written: The International Atomic Energy Agency, relying on Iran's self-inspection (!) of its most sensitive nuclear facility, will declare Iran in compliance. The agreement then goes into effect and Iran's nuclear program is officially deemed peaceful.
Boehner Changes Course on Iran
As Americans rallied on Capitol Hill demanding more resistance to the Iran nuclear deal, Speaker John Boehner changed course late [Wednesday]. There is a growing consensus that President Obama failed to meet his legal obligations under the Iran Nuclear Review Act, so the speaker scrapped plans for just one vote.
Can the GOP at Least Slow Iran Deal?

Tea Time for Iran Debate
President Obama's nuclear deal with Iran got the Tea Party treatment [Wednesday]. Americans concerned about our security and Israel's turned out on Capitol Hill [yesterday] afternoon for a huge rally warning against this terrible deal. It featured Glenn Beck, Ted Cruz, Mark Levin, Sarah Palin, Phil Robertson, Donald Trump and many others. I also spoke at the rally and did a live interview with the Fox Business Network as the event was getting underway. You should know that many members of Congress are just as frustrated as you are by this deal and how it is being handled. They are pursuing a variety of options to stop it.
Democrats, Republicans and Mushroom Clouds
The Democratic Party has been weak-minded on defense for decades, but with the Iran capitulation, they've achieved a new threshold of cowardice and treachery. While it's true that an honorable handful of Democrats have resisted the president's pressure, the overwhelming majority have chosen to go over the cliff with Barack Obama, a president who never met an enemy he didn't wish to conciliate or an ally he didn't seek to betray. Democrats have long tended toward appeasement of aggressors. Throughout the Cold War, they scared themselves (and everyone else) silly conjuring specters of nuclear holocaust. Then-Sen. John Kerry was one of many prominent Democrats who endorsed the "nuclear freeze." It wasn't America's enemies that we should fear, the Democrats argued, but the weapons themselves.
Show Vote Showdown
It may not be a comfortable position for Republican leaders, but it's certainly a familiar one. Caught between Planned Parenthood and a hard place, the GOP has to decide whether to continue the funding of an organization that's been exposed for trafficking in baby body parts or stand up to a President who has vowed to defend the nation's largest abortion provider no matter what.

Obama Breaks Law He Signed, Don't Give Up, Christians & the Law
A county clerk in Kentucky spent the holiday weekend in jail for refusing to follow the law. (More on that below.) But President Obama is also refusing to follow a law that he signed. When the New York Times last year leaked the news that the Obama White House would not submit his nuclear deal with Iran to the Senate for ratification as a treaty, members of Congress were outraged. In a rare moment of bi-partisan agreement, Democrats and Republicans came together to demand that Congress have some say on the most important foreign policy decision of this administration.
Obama Wins; America Loses, Servergate Gets Serious, Poll Position
[Wednesday], Maryland Senator Barbara Mikulski became the 34th senator to support the Iranian nuclear deal. Her support gives President Obama the votes needed to sustain his veto of a congressional resolution disapproving the deal. That means this terrible deal will likely go into effect. This is a hollow victory for Obama and the deal's supporters. A new Rasmussen poll finds that 66% of likely voters believe that the deal should not go into effect unless Congress approves it. But that isn't going to happen because most members of Congress will not vote for this bad deal. And it is a bad deal.
