Re: The Military’s Worst Recruiting Year

“I find it ironic that Kristin M. Griest, the nation’s first female infantry officer, should make the comment that it’s ‘wholly unethical to allow the standards of the nation’s premier fighting units to degrade so badly, just to accommodate the lowest-performing soldiers.’ I spent four years in the infantry and served with some of the highest-quality soldiers who have ever served our country. The standard was compromised when the Army started putting women in the infantry. Women’s PT standards are lower. The Army is only concerned with political correctness, not fighting and winning wars. The leadership is accommodating the lowest-performing soldiers and has been for over 40 years.” —Texas

“I’m certain that the very smart people of the Institute for Defense Analyses can come up with lots of theories, and they probably talk to other smart people to support their thoughts. They quote each other all the time. Maybe they should survey the people that are not joining the military and ask them why. Hint: It’s usually a reflection of the impression leadership demonstrates.” —Washington

“Healthy doses of patriotism in our schools and in the military itself wouldn’t hurt, either. Why would any young person sign up to defend, and possibly sacrifice his/her life for, a nation that they’ve been repeatedly told is irredeemably racist, sexist, imperialist, hateful, etc.? Is it any wonder the services cannot find enough recruits to defend what they’re told is indefensible?” —Arizona

“Not long ago, the U.S. was the world model for a defensive fighting force. Today, more people would say Israel has proven to be the best model. Ruining the will of those who would protect this country is treason.” —Washington

“Having grown up in the ‘40s and '50s, most kids in that generation knew of a family member who had served in WWII and/or Korea. The overarching fact of life for teenage boys was that the draft was more than likely in our future. College exemptions were not on the table as far as I know. The choices were simple: enlist in the service of your choice, or take the risk that you could be getting drafted in your mid-20s after settling down/starting a family. My father was a veteran from the 1930s. I had two uncles who served in WWII, two cousins who joined the Army, and a son who joined the Air Force. Reinstate the draft and enlistments will follow suit.” —California

Re: Trump’s Bold Border Promise

“Biden has indeed been a catastrophe. And as is always the case with the Left, we see their ideas and their actions and we ask ourselves, Are they corrupt or just plain dumb? The answer is … BOTH! Liberals will make nice to a charging lion while leftists will strategically release the lion onto their enemies. Our nation’s existence now depends upon fixing everything on Trump’s list as shown in the last paragraph of this article. But it will be a tough task, beginning with achieving election integrity. Then, the Left and complicit MSM will demonize every effort at reform. Regarding the illegals now spread out across our nation, deporting them is the correct solution, but it will be worse than the Times Square New Year’s confetti cleanup.” —Illinois

Re: In Brief: Massacred Nigerian Christians Deserve Our Outrage

“When the UN sent people into Rwanda and Darfur, they raped, murdered, and plundered. I think that videos of what Hamas did to Israeli women, girls, and children should be shown to ALL members of Congress and the media the way Germans were forced to walk past death camps. Just like then, there will be those who are disgusted and ashamed, but many will also be supportive of what was done. I’m betting Congress would try to stop the showing.” —Minnesota

Re: Profiles of Valor: End of Watch

“As an NYPD senior officer, I deeply appreciate this profile from Alexander. The last three years have been very difficult under Biden, and even more so here in New York under our crazy mayor and governor.” —New York

Re: Readers’ Choice: Best of Alexander for 2023

“Joe Biden was elected to represent the will of the majority of American voters, and he is certainly doing that. Says a lot about the majority of American voters, huh?” —Ohio

Re: 2023 — In Case You Missed It…

“This entire article is so outstanding. I only wish everyone in America would read it and wake up. You covered it all. I am 88 and grew up during WWII and the Great Depression. I learned from my parents, who did all they could to make life livable, and I wish people today could understand that. From an old man who has seen a lot, thank you, Patriots!” —Illinois

“Apparently Alexander had no time off — this column was extremely entertaining and very cogent. Thanks to the entire Patriot team for your great work this past year and for the confidence you loyal warriors will be on the frontlines through 2024.” —California

“Thank you for the laughter! Sarcasm can be the best lens into the idiocy of the current political and cultural state of our society at the moment. Love the memes, too! Here’s hoping and praying that 2024 will bring some of this idiocy to an end!” —Utah

“‘Artificial Intelligence Czar’ is the perfect job title for Harris, seeing as she has NO natural intelligence.” —Montana
