Trump & Biden: A Tale of Two Visits
While Donald Trump visited an illegal immigration hot spot, Joe Biden steered clear of the chaos and talked about … climate change.
Newcomers. Newcomers.
That’s the new poll-tested term that Joe Biden is trotting out to describe those who’ve crossed our southern border illegally. We prefer a more descriptive term: illegal immigrants.
That Biden and his fellow Democrats and the Leftmedia long ago abandoned the term “illegal immigrants” in favor of euphemisms such as “undocumented immigrants” and “migrants” and now “newcomers” is telling. The issue of immigration is a loser for them, and now more than ever: A recent NBC News poll has Trump beating Biden by a whopping 35 points on the issue of “securing the border and controlling immigration.”
We’ve been watching polls for a long time, and we don’t recall a spread like that on any issue, much less the leading issue in voters’ minds. That’s right: In this unique campaign, it’s not the economy, stupid.
And that explains a couple of things. It explains why Joe Biden tried to mimic Donald Trump by making a hastily announced trip to the southern border yesterday. And it explains why Trump went to ground zero for the immigration crisis, Eagle Pass, which has seen more than 2,100 border apprehensions in the past five days, while Biden went to the relatively sleepy far-eastern border town of Brownsville, which has seen just 46 apprehensions during that same period.
And, yes, there was Biden yesterday, extolling the virtues of the “comprehensive” border legislation bill that’s hopelessly stuck in the Senate. “It’s real simple, it’s time to act, it is long past time to act,” said Biden. “It’s time for us to move on this, we can’t wait any longer.” Among the bill’s highlights, a White House “fact sheet” says, is “$1.4 billion for cities and states who are providing critical services to [wait for it] newcomers, and would expedite work permits for people who are in the country and qualify.”
Remember, he’s doing this solely to deflect blame to congressional Republicans for the border crisis he created.
Georgia Republican Congressman Andrew Clyde, though, isn’t fooled. As he put it on X yesterday: “INSANITY. A ‘newcomer’ just brutally murdered Laken Riley last week. ‘Newcomers’ are flooding our county with fentanyl. These ‘newcomers’ are costing American taxpayers nearly $500 billion. Joe Biden wants to normalize his intentional illegal invasion.”
But if the language Biden used to describe illegal immigrants was telling, so too was the topic he deemed most worthy of discussion when he visited Brownsville.
“The idea there’s no such thing as climate change. I love that, man,” said President Open Borders. “I love some of my Neanderthal friends who still think there’s no climate change.”
Remarkable, isn’t it? We’re in the midst of a Biden-caused border catastrophe, and this guy is talking about the costliness of climate change.
You want “costly,” Joe? Consider the cost of the nine million (and counting) illegal aliens who’ve streamed across our southern border on your watch. Not only are these people overwhelming our social services systems, but many are also bringing an element of lawlessness with them.
Indeed, Joe Biden won’t even mention the name of Laken Riley, whose blood is all over his hands. Riley, a 22-year-old Augusta University nursing student, was brutally murdered while out for a jog on the University of Georgia campus last week by, it appears, a 26-year-old Venezuelan illegal.
Things aren’t any better for Kelly Girtz, the “progressive” Democrat mayor of Athens, Georgia, home of the University of Georgia, and an effective “sanctuary city” for illegals like that murdering Venezuelan. “I caution against conflating immigration and crime,” said Girtz. “The data demonstrates that the two are not connected.”
But as our Nate Jackson noted yesterday: “That’s a BIG lie for a couple of big reasons. First of all, any alien who crosses the border illegally has committed a crime as his or her first act on American soil. Girtz weaseled around this by not using the word ‘illegal.’ Second, the only reason Girtz can spout such nonsense about data is that there is no real database at any level of government linking crime to immigration status.”
“Immigrants actually commit fewer crimes than native-born people here in this country,” claimed California Congressman Robert Garcia, a Biden stooge. “This immigrant crime narrative is racist. It’s not true.” But how would he know? Garcia and his fellow Democrats don’t want illegal immigrant crime to be cataloged in a national crime database because they know they bear responsibility for it, and because they fear a righteous backlash from voters. And in any case, we know this much for certain: Were it not for Joe Biden’s open-borders policies, Laken Riley would be alive today. Say her name, Democrats. Say her name.
As for Donald Trump, he was accompanied by Texas Governor Greg Abbott, who has resolutely taken border security into his own hands, with Texas refusing to allow Border Patrol agents into a state park near Eagle Pass, where, bizarrely, they might undo the security measures he’s put in place.
In addition to speaking at Eagle Pass yesterday, Trump penned an op-ed in America’s best paper, the UK’s Daily Mail. In it, he wrote:
When Joe Biden came into office, he willfully and deliberately obliterated every strong border policy I put into place, and launched the largest border invasion in American history.
Biden stopped wall construction. He ordered an immediate suspension of removals. He ripped up Remain in Mexico. He terminated my asylum agreements. He ended Title 42. He tied the hands of our ICE and Border Patrol agents behind their backs. He made it known to the entire world that our border was wide open.
Remember: Upon entering office on January 20, 2021, Joe Biden issued the following proclamation: “It shall be the policy of my administration that no more American taxpayer dollars be diverted to construct a border wall.”
And now, for the first time, a majority of Americans — by a 53-46 margin — favor a border wall. Thus, in much the same way that gun-grabbing Barack Obama became our nation’s top firearm salesman, Joe Biden has become its leading border wall pitch man.
Unfortunately, nine million horses have already left the barn.
Despite this, Trump has promised to “leverage every tool, resource, and authority to begin the largest domestic deportation operation in American history,” but he closed by stressing Job One for each of our nation’s 50 states, all of which are now border states: “The first step to border security is voting Biden out of office this November.”
