The Leftmedia’s Election Tantrum
As Trump’s win became more obvious overnight, there was weeping and gnashing of teeth among the talkingheads.
It was, as JD Vance put it at 2:35 a.m., “the greatest political comeback in the history of the United States of America.”
$%#@&! yelled the media. There’s no more joy in Mudville.
As we all know, the Leftmedia has hated Donald Trump with incredible passion since 2015, and watching him win again last night was almost more than many pundits could take. While Fox News had called the election for Trump — by way of victories in Pennsylvania and Wisconsin — in the two o'clock hour, it took most of the mainstream media until after 5:30 a.m. to concede defeat.
They tried to tell us it would take a while, but in the end, they couldn’t hold back the red tide.
With four of the seven battleground states now called for Trump, he has 277 Electoral votes and the presidency. He outperformed polls in all of those states. He leads by three to five points in Michigan, Nevada, and Arizona, which puts him somewhere in the 312-314 range in the Electoral College. It even appears that Trump has won the popular vote.
With that, let’s consider some media reactions last night and in the days leading up to the election.
CNN’s Jake Tapper, with his resting sneer firming in place, was incredulous that Harris underperformed Joe Biden in every single county in the United States. “Holy smokes!” Tapper exclaimed. “Literally nothing? Literally not one county?” It must be especially difficult for Tapper to swallow that mouthful of glass after all he’s done to lie about and antagonize Trump over the years.
It’s amusing, in fact, that Harris is nowhere near Joe Biden’s 81 million* vote total from 2020. She’s currently sitting at just over 66 million, which is just barely more than Hillary Clinton achieved.
CNN’s panel agreed that “sexism” and “racism” helped Trump win. Harris is, after all, a Woman of Color™, don’t you know.
Yet perhaps my favorite leftist meltdown was MSNBC’s panel of left-wing women, including Lawrence O'Donnell and Chris Hayes. I could only stand to leave my TV on MSNBC for a few minutes, but the tone was unmistakably dour. And it’s your fault, you smelly Trump voters.
They were appalled that union voters in swing states didn’t understand they were working jobs “literally created for them” by Biden and Harris. Ingrates. When former RNC chairman (and Trump-hater) Michael Steele explained that normal Americans think Democrats don’t care about them, Molly Jong Fast replied, “But isn’t that a disinformation problem?”
Later, as Trump’s victory became obvious, she posted on social media, “I’m gonna throw up.”
Women were berated, too. When lamenting Trump’s win in North Carolina, Joy Reid said, “Black voters came through for Kamala Harris. White women voters did not.” She bemoaned the loss of “reproductive rights” (a euphemism for not reproducing), adding that “white women in this country” really need to “change the way that they interact with the patriarchy.”
Black voters didn’t come through everywhere in Reid’s alternate universe, however. She repeatedly asserted, without evidence, that Texas has “deeply suppressed” black voters, especially in and around Houston. She railed against “extremist” and “fascist” government in Florida, which is totally ignorant and false.
But Reid saved her greatest contempt for voters. Lecturing about Trump’s “threats to do mass deportation” and “a violent start to his dictatorship on day one,” she then turned on us. “If all of that gets you half of the votes, what does it tell you? We need to really take a step back and think about what does that say about us.” Meaning you.

Chris Hayes groused, “We have this very funky and terrible system called the Electoral College, which decides elections in a way that’s totally different than every other election in the United States is decided, and the way that anything is decided anywhere else in the world. We should scrap it.” Memo to Chris: Check out that popular vote number, and go back to American civics class.
It wasn’t just last night’s coverage, of course, but the hysterics perpetuated by the Leftmedia in recent weeks (and, well, practically forever).
NewsBusters collected some of the most vile closing arguments from the Leftmedia before the election. Nothing surprises me, but it’s a litany of calling Trump and his supporters racist and sexist, extremist and fascist. Max Boot says it’s a “terrible commentary on America” that we’d even consider electing “this delusional maniac.”
Mika Brzezinski melted down over how “nobody gets a pass” for “trashing America,” “degrading people,” “degrading legal migrants and terrorizing people,” “threatening his enemies with using the military against them,” “inciting an insurrection,” “saying he fancies Hitler,” “insulting veterans and saying those who have died for our country are suckers and losers” — nobody “except for convicted felon Donald Trump!” She exclaimed, “This is the descent into fascism if we so choose.”
There are plenty more examples of media derangement, but these are the people who are supposed to convey news to the American people. They’re the ones supposedly reporting what happened. Not only can they not contain their contempt for Donald Trump, they can’t mask their utter loathing for you, the American voter who doesn’t fall in line with what they tell you.
Until these clowns have been replaced and media outlets basically rebooted, they will not and should not regain an ounce of our trust.
