Maybe it’s Donald Trump’s victory in the 2024 election, combined with an increasingly successful grassroots pressure campaign. Maybe it’s a reaction to the overreach of leftist culture warriors foisting “pride” on everyone through increasingly lewd public displays, often billed as ostensibly “family friendly.” Maybe it’s simply that more people are figuring out that Pride Month is gross.

Those are actually all reasons that Pride Month 2025 has been more muted than in years past. In 2023, Joe Biden (well, his puppeteers) disgracefully held a debauchery party on the White House lawn that featured a male social media influencer flashing his prosthetic breasts for the camera with the garish progressive pride flag hanging from the White House in the background.

On Monday, Donald Trump hoisted a massive American flag on a 100-foot flagpole. What a difference!

As for Pride Month, our Emmy Griffin began the month by noting that many corporations and businesses are opting out of this LGBTQ liturgical calendar event this year. The backlash against DEI is weakening the Rainbow Mafia’s stranglehold on our culture.

Think of a couple of illustrative recent events. USA gymnast Simone Biles attacked women’s sports advocate Riley Gaines over the transgender issue, only to be forced to walk it back. “This scenario would have been unthinkable just a few years ago,” observed Matt Walsh.

Just yesterday, the Supreme Court upheld Tennessee’s law banning gender mutilation of minors. That’s a big win for sanity and a huge blow for the groomers and child abusers.

As I pondered in my opening paragraph, these events figure into the overreach category. One big reason for the decline of Pride Month is the “transgender” issue. The “T” in “LGBT” is undermining the rest of the alphabet jumble.

Most Americans don’t want boys winning girls’ sports trophies. We don’t want Planned Parenthood and other medical establishment types cashing in on the misery of the gender dysphoric — especially children. We don’t want to be lectured about pronouns and called “cisgender” because we live according to biological reality.

Even same-sex “marriage” is losing public support for the first time in a decade.

Don’t get me wrong. We’re not on the cusp of returning to biblical foundations for sex and family. There are far too few Christians in America — and far too few of those who actually adhere to the Bible — for that. The U.S. men’s soccer team just wore “pride” jerseys this week, so such displays are still plentiful. But we are witnessing a receding rainbow tide, and a lot of it has to do with people growing tired of the “transgender” fiction.

New York Times podcaster Ezra Klein hosted Tim Sarah McBride, the “first openly trans member of Congress,” on his show to talk about “Why the Left Lost on Trans Rights.” Klein began with Trump’s inaugural promise that “it will henceforth be the official policy of the United States government that there are only two genders: male and female.” Myriad examples of Trump’s “all-out effort to roll back trans rights” ensue, though Klein concedes that the president is on the right side of public opinion in what he’s doing.

His question for McBride is effectively this: What will Democrats do about it?

Predictably, Klein and McBride go in all sorts of wrong directions, and they assert countless erroneous things. They certainly wouldn’t put it this way, but they do agree on a simple truth: The “transgender” ideological movement is currently causing a backlash against the entire Rainbow Mafia.

“By every objective metric, support for trans rights is worse now than it was six or seven years ago,” McBride admitted. Why? “We as a coalition went to Trans 201, Trans 301, when people were still at a very much Trans 101 stage,” he said. “We became absolutist,” he added, noting that Democrats attempted to “push for every single perfect policy and cultural norm right now, regardless of whether the public is ready.” Along the way, he said, “Candidly, I think we’ve lost the art of persuasion.”

They did indeed try to force submission rather than persuade anyone. Regardless, no one is going to persuade me that McBride is anything but a man in women’s clothing.

The good news for the rest of us is that more people are waking up to the problems with the gender confusion cult, and they’re pushing back against the progressive slide down the slippery slope. It’s never enough for leftist culture warriors. In the 1960s, they were never going to stop with “free love.” It inevitably progressed from heterosexual promiscuity to homosexual profligacy and beyond. There’s no telling where it will go next without a much-needed rollback.

It would be a miracle if Pride Month and the rest of the liturgical calendar were to disappear entirely, though that should be the ultimate goal. If leftists help us by grossly overreaching (in both senses of that term), so be it.
