Texas has imported a sizable Muslim population over the years. Every newcomer should be vetted, love America, assimilate, and not violate our religious freedom laws, but what Texas is finding out is that many of these migrants are not planning to do any of that.

Members of the East Plano Islamic Center (EPIC) were planning to build a Muslim-exclusive community in Josephine that would contain Islamic-only schools, mosques, and shops, as well as a senior center and community college. Governor Greg Abbott and many members of the Texas legislature are concerned about religious discrimination in the community. Having an Islamist community that might discriminate against Jews or Christians or even impose Sharia law is not okay and is, in fact, unlawful.

Last month, Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton found that the developers of the city were committing illegal activities. In a statement, Paxton announced: “After a thorough investigation, it has become clear that the developers behind EPIC City flagrantly and undeniably violated the law. The bad actors behind this illegal scheme must be held accountable for ignoring state and federal regulations. In accordance with state law, the TSSB should review our findings and refer this matter to me for further legal action.”

This month, EPIC City got a rebrand in an attempt to make it more palatable. It’s now called “The Meadows.” However, legal fights are still ongoing. As Texas native and conservative Christian podcaster Allie Beth Stuckey noted, “The reason why people are upset about it … is because of the cultural change that [Islam] causes. Simply because when you have a high concentration of Islamists in one area, there is a concern about how that changes the culture and the safety of your city.”

However, this is just one facet of the Lone Star State’s battle with Islamists, which is why the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) and the Muslim Brotherhood have now been designated as foreign terrorist organizations by Abbott. The latter surprisingly does not have a terrorist designation from the U.S. government, though several of its individual members are on terror lists.

CAIR is a lobbying group that operates mainly on Capitol Hill to influence politicians. Former President Joe Biden even had CAIR “help” be a part of the effort to combat anti-Semitism. She is but a sampling of the violent and hateful agenda that CAIR supports.

CAIR is a front group for Hamas, working with impunity in the U.S. It should be thrown out. As Abbott stated, “CAIR and its members have repeatedly employed, affiliated with, and supported individuals promoting terrorism-related activities.” He goes on to list eight terrorists associated with CAIR. This group is also funding anti-Israel agitators on college campuses.

The New York Post reports, “In California, the largest arm of the CAIR web of nonprofits, affiliates in San Francisco and Los Angeles raised more than $100,000 in donations for campus radicals, while the main group solicited $64,000 in donations, records show. The money was then offered as interest-free loans in grants of $1,000 to students who lost ‘scholarships, housing or other support because of their advocacy,’ according to CAIR’s website.”

CAIR was funding criminality and incentivizing chaos.

Texas is simultaneously trying to keep its cities from becoming the next Dearborn, Michigan, and a breeding ground for terrorism. Perhaps President Donald Trump might want to address some of these concerns on a national scale, especially considering the several terrorism plots that have been thwarted this year alone.
